Forums - Nintendo - I got my Wii back from repairs (how things went)

Ok a lot of people wanted to know how things went with my Nintendo repairs so here is the story/review.

First off my warranty had expired, but then some people here told me to try reregistering it at Nintendo anyways. I did and then I was back in the good grace of the warranty (it adds 3 month {I was still in 15 month just not 12}).

So I called Nintendo got of hold of a representative right away. I told them about the problem I was having (disc drive failed and ate my Zelda disc) and within 5 minutes I was done. So they send me a shipping label in my E-mail I print it out, Follow their instructions, package the Wii, slap on the label, and drop it off at FedEx.

They say it will take up to a week to fix it, but the day they get it they fix it and sent it back. 4 days later I get it from UPS, that’s right out with FedEx in with UPS.

So they ended up just replacing the whole disc drive which of course now works just fine, and all my save data and downloads are fine too.

Now they told me they would fix the Wii and replace the Zelda disc. They did the first part but they did not replace the disc. Nintendo gave me the disc that was stuck in the wii, and has the crap scratched out of it, a lot more so then I remember. Now that disc did get scratched a long time ago and wouldn’t read but it was a lot worse when I got it back.

Now Nintendo officially doesn’t replace scratched disc, though the representative said they would in this case. So I figure they A) didn’t check the disc or B) figured it couldn’t get scratched in the disc drive. I would be up in arms and calling and complaining it wasn’t for the fact it didn’t work before and I would only be circumventing the system.

That said they should have replaced the disc, had I not had that crappie disc laying close by to test the disc drive that last time, it would have been a real disc that I didn’t have another copy of scratched and not working. So I view this as a failure on their part, or at least a mistake.

As far as the Wii its self everything went extremely smooth. Also don’t feel too bad for me about the Zelda disc I have another copy that works fine.

Your theories are the worst kind of popular tripe, your methods are sloppy, and your conclusions are highly questionable! You are a poor scientist. Especially if you think the moon landing was faked.

Glad to see you're back up and running...so the whole process took less than a week? Not bad.

u got lucky it was within 15 months

What will you do with the other disk?
I say eBay, but that's just me.

now that your wii is back, hope you enjoy Zelda

They email you the shipping label these days? Nice. I had to wait a few days to get my shipping label in the mail.

Yeah soon as I get it back my wife takes it over and starts playing Ocarina of Time.

As for Twilight Princess I've beat it 3 time now. Also I use the second TW case for Wii Sports. The scond disc is beyond a repair that doesn't cost me as much as the disc. It my officail test disc for the wii I guess.
