10 of the top 40 titles in the UK this week were third-party Wii games. That's not 10 of the top 40 Wii games, but 10 of the top 40 games overall. In comparison only two first-party Wii games were on the list... MK and Wii Play.
360 and PS3 had 7 and 4 third party games in the top 40, respectively.
So the third party support is here, and it is succeeding. Wake up. |
I only counted 9, those games are..

@Zenfolder Even if you were considering success strictly in third party support terms, i'd say the the xbox is not dominating because while it has third party support and great third party games, it does not have a large variety of games from different genres. Having this well varied lineup is what made the the ps2 a ridiculous success (among other things, ofcourse), and for the time being I don't see this well rounded third party support on the Wii. This, in my opinion, is needed before any ps2-esque domination can occur. Once third party devs leave the shallow end of the Wii pool and take a little risk i think this could definately change. |
What about the DS though?
Also, what I find repugnant about the "3rd party support" argument is this:
1. It's cherrypicking the one thing Nintendo isn't leading in with its home console(though it is leading with its portable by way more than enough to be considered dominating) is (of course) used to dismiss "Nintendomination."
2. It totally discredits the actual console support from first and second party, which have up until this point, imo, made the Wii the best console so far this generation.
It's like, if Nintendo had 3rd party support, there would be 1 or 2 guys who would say,
"Meh, I don't consider it Nintendomnation, until the Wii has the best Metal Gear Solid and Halo games available. I wonder which console has those, cause that would truely be the dominating force."
