That was a serious amount of Final Fantasy Download.
7,8,9,10,10-2, 12, 15, AND world of final fantasy.

I'm not going to buy any of them, but wow I still don't think I have picked my jaw up yet.

Not 8.

Nice. Honestly, only the Civ part and Online part felt "awkward" imo since both were played up as "new" info when we just got it because of the delay. Some very positive surprises. When I heard about FFXV and CC Remaster I thought Square was tumbling down the Capcom rabbit hole of pushing their luck rather than doing any respectable work on the platform. But Now it seems like an all out Final Fantasy blitzkrieg is in order. Now I can actually believe they really are experimenting in ways to bring XV over because it's clear that they want them *all* on Switch xD. I am kinda surprised they didn't announce FFXIV while they were at it but that may come later. Online is barebones but I kinda saw that coming a while back with the $20 price tag, they definitely seem to be taking a fly-by-the-sea-of-their-pants approach which is disappointing but it's cheap enough that I won't care much since I don't use most of the extra bells and whistles on my PS4 either.

Other than that, good stuff mostly. And some weird stuff. But mostly good stuff.

The FF part tells me that SE are preparing the userbase for a massive catch up on the series.

Yeah.  After the success of Octopath it looks like they are more or less just bringing the whole FF series over to Switch.  Then they'll see what sells and in a couple of years give us brand new games based on the most successful ones (I hope).  This is a very good sign for Square-Enix support on the Switch.

Gotta say, this was a VERY solid 7.5.It wasnt higher for me simply because Im not a fan, nor really like, Animal Crossing.Maybe this will be the game that changes my perspective on the series, but until then, Im neutral on it.

But gotta say, the leaks have hurted the directs a little. It would have been a bit more exciting for me it they had the Megaman demo shadowdropped, or simply announced Civ 6 when nobody expected it.

My (locked) thread about how difficulty should be a decision for the developers, not the gamers.

I'm still disappointed.
It's good to see Nintendo finally getting some nice 3rd party support (though 90% of those games are remasters) but the 1st party lineup has been very weak after Switch launch. Smash Bros is literally the only Nintendo game I'll be playing this year.
So far for 2019 the only games I'm really interested in are Metorid, Luigi's Mansion and they haven't shown anything about them yet. I could add Fire Emblem but the E3 trailer didn't look very good.

From a presentation point of view this is what a general Direct should be, not over-informing on one game

Yep! Exactly! There were many times I thought they are going to extend 1 game but they cut it smoothly.

Pocky Lover Boy!

The actual, genuine, Final Fantasy XV for the Switch is looking like a much bigger possibility now.

Crossing my fingers that SE isn't releasing FF VI on the system because they are remaking IV, V, and VI with the Octopath Traveler engine.

It was a good presentation, but there was nothing that caught my attention, and I'm still waiting for Pikmin 4...

ouch. Did you have to remind me of Pikmin 4? Here I was happily ignoring how bad the online service is, because they announced Luigis Mansion 3, Yoshi is still adorable, Civ (even though that was leaked)coming over, ALL the Final Fantasies and Animal crossing being announced.

Now I'm sad.

2019 is going to be an insanely great year for the switch.
