Cloud was revealed in the general direct instead of a smash direct.

That's cheating. Cloud was the last of the DLC. So, of course, they won't announce him in a Smash Direct. Smash 4 was already out! Either way it still possible to have a bombshell odds are a little against it. Then again Sakurai has been firing at all cylinders lately.

Um, the last DLC characters of Smash 4 are Corrin and Bayonetta

They didn't have to delay their Direct, but the fact that they did anyways out of respect for those who have suffered and were directly affected by that earthquake goes to show their character and integrity as a company. You rock for that, Nintendo! Let's just hope and pray that everyone is OK.

At least 7 dead, dozens more thought buried.

Nintendo made the right call.

That's a good decision to delay it. Btw. why aren't those airing on WE?

Intel Core i7 8700K | 32 GB DDR 4 PC 3200 | ROG STRIX Z370-F Gaming | RTX 3090 FE| Crappy Monitor| HTC Vive Pro :3

Damn, today was supposed to be a good day...

I don't really understand what an earthquake has to do with a Nintendo Direct... I mean I don't have an issue waiting, I just don't understand the relation.

Nintendo is based in Japan, the Earthquake happened in Japan, from there it's self explanatory.

Eh, I still don't get it. How does any of this affect the victims of the earthquake and their families. If in the place of the direct Nintendo decided to do a fundraising campaign for the victims I could understand it. Rather they're simply deciding, "Ok we won't upload a video." I really don't see how it matters on any level at all. I'm assuming it's already been recorded.

If Nintendo wish to show respect to the victims, surely there is something actually meaningful they can do. Because whether they upload or don't upload a video, the people actually affected by this disaster couldn't care less.

Since this direct is likely a celebration of online Nintendo games or their new payed online structure, they would appear to be 'celebrating' during this period. That doesn't look good in Japan at all. Best to delay it.

Adding what stefan said. Delaying it is a sign of doing something meaningful. Its like saying "lets all focus on the people that have been affected by these through donations or by prayers around the world"

And im sure it wouldn't hurt to delay it. But not delaying it may face some backlash.
