Of course Nintendo is light years ahead of all these developers.  How many genre's of games do these developers make good games in?  2 at most?

 The last time I checked Nintendo makes the best platformer, RPG, SRPG, sports, party and racing.  I'm pretty sure that they make one of the best FPS games too, but until they put metroid online it will be behind all these developers in one genre.

 Taking a look at that, it would appear that Nintendo is the greatest developer right now.  Even if I went and looked up that article from last week that showed Nintendo has a 33% million seller rate.


 Play Phyconauts or 90% of all PC based platformer, and your kidding with the rest. Ever heard of Square-Enix? Polyphony Digital? 


Those are great companies with great games and they are the ones coming the closest to Nintendo but not even really close to beat them. Psychonauts is the best game outside of Super Mario and in some way even cooler attitude then Super Mario.

EA has how many memorable Charaters.... the most reconizable EA "character" is a big fat old guy named John Madden....

They will be remembered for killing many good smaller developers by buying them, and forcing them to make crummy games.



End of 2009 Predictions (Set, January 1st 2009)

Wii- 72 million   3rd Year Peak, better slate of releases

360- 37 million   Should trend down slightly after 3rd year peak

PS3- 29 million  Sales should pick up next year, 3rd year peak and price cut

Platformer: Not all of Nintendo's great platformers were developed in house. Don't forget Rare gave them a lot of great games back in the day. 

RPG/SRPG: I hope you're not talking about Pokemon or Paper Mario because those all pale in comparison to other better known RPG's like Final Fantasy, Kingdom Hearts, Dragon Quest, Tales of, etc...

Sports: Madden sales alone would prove you wrong! 

Party: I'll give them that one since the Wii is a haven for party games. 

Racing: Forza, Gran Tourismo, Project Gotham, Burnout, etc...

FPS: Even if Metroid was online it still wouldn't top Counter Strike Source, Call of Duty 4, Halo, The Clancy Games, etc...

Nintendo is the Disney of entertainment not because they currently make the best games (which is somewhat debatable, though review scores tend to show that they do) but because they are the father of their genre.

 

Edit: And to be clear, I know that Nintendo wasn't the first large videogame company but they saved the industry in America after the crash.
