IMO its safe bet that Switch will have both of them next year.

We will know from Nintendo internal ship numbers of top 10 best selling games.

You do realise you comparing sales of software of platforms where one is released 3.5 years before second and where one has around 4x bigger install base!?

Saying that, Switch already has 3 games that have sales over 10m or near 10m with install base of 20m, how many games with around 10m sales PS4 had with install base of around 20m at all? Not single one 1st party game probably in that time didnt pass even 5m, even if take in account 3rd party probably only GTAV was near 10m.

Keep it in context to the post I was replying to. He’s the one who came in wanting to compare first party sales. Swith has fewer big games than the PS4 so it’s normal that the Switch has sales concentrate on fewer titles. Imagine if the Switch was a popular platform for third parties and the Nintendo games faced as much competition as the PS4 first parties.

So you are agreeing with me that Nintendo first party games sales whether on Wii/DS /3DS or hybrid like Switch will always be the king

Bravo Octopath, looking forward to hearing the sales figures!

God Of War leg is pitiful compared to BOTW, SMO, and MK8D which are going to appear again on the next year NPD chart.

No, Nintendo reports all software sales in their earnings reports.

Actually they sadly do not, based on the wording in the IR report in Nintendo's software total. They report retail copies with their retail+digital total. Download only titles are not included in that total they provide (but obviously do appear in revenue). Sony software does include everything in the total software total.

Yeah, I’m looking at the wording - it says downloadable versions of software. That to me includes games that are digital-only as well.

Ever noticed how vgchartz always falls short of the Sony first party titles true sales?

Yeah, just like when they undertrack Nintendo games sales. Mario Kart Wii sold 35 million, what ps3 game sold close to that?

Again, it does not say digital only title.

It literally says "Software sales units for each platform are those of card or disk software" (But include the digital version of card and disk software). It does not say includes digital only software.

Here is another wording "Nintendo Switch software includes the downloadable version of Nintendo Switch card software."

Again it includes digital versions of physical software (Card Software), but not digital only titles.

Also note: I don't think the number would drastically be higher, but a million or so units would still be missing from the data set.

What PS3 game has sold close to that Wii game that sold to casuals? There is no PS3 game that sold that much to casuals.

Look at the Sony wording then - it doesn’t say digital-only either. It would be silly to think that because the wording on the revenue section is different that Nintendo don’t include digital numbers. Also, do you really think Nintendo won’t include those numbers. I mean, just think about it for 2 seconds.

God of War has had exceptional legs for a first party Sony title. They are usually quite frontloaded so it still being on the charts is great.

But sure, Nintendo titles often look different in terms of sales curve than a first party title from Sony
