Playing Spider Man for 2 hours now

Very fluid controls and movements and action packed combat. Traversing trough buildings is finally satisfying after years of clunky movement and gameplay. I guess technology finally allowed developers to make a fully functional Spider Man game with certain level of quality of physics and map design

I also enjoyed to see so many options for combos and even a skill tree to unblock even more combat and exploration abilities.

There's a reason that game sold something like 20 million copies!

Marvel's Spider-Man plays great and it deserves these sales.

But Sunset Overdrive was also great with similar gameplay and only had a fraction of sales. I hope it someday gets ported to PS5 or gets a successor.

that is something I hear a lot, and possibly the major push for Insomniac to accept Sony offer after not wanting to be purchased for so many years. They understood that the place their titles sell the best is PS.

Definitely getting new GoW: Ragnarok gameplay! Hopefully a Spider-Man 2 update with some gameplay footage. And super high chance we'll get release dates for Uncharted collection and Miles Morales for PC.

EDIT: I just read it's primarily focusing on Japanese games? Nothing wrong with that either!

Oh wow...tomorrow's like a mini-E3! 20 minutes from Sony and I think they said 40 minutes from Nintendo! After all these other lackluster events I hope we get some cool announcements. Even on a bad day sony and Nintendo usually give us something good.

I figure we'll see Horizon VR, A bunch of PC release dates, Spider-Man 2, etc. I just don't wanna hear about Bloodborne remakes or sequels. Not from the presentation, but from the fans. Every time we hear about new presentations you get folks clamoring for something Bloodborne related and it never happens. That game was damn near perfect (Loading times and I guess a lot of people don't care for chalice dungeons but I loved them), time to let it go. Not that I don't want it to happen, but y'all just keep getting yourselves hyped up for nothing.

I'm happy with Bloodborne as it is. Sequel? Tentatively optimistic (I doubt From or Miyazaki will be involved and if they're not I'm not interested; I saw what they did to Dark souls II). Remaster/Remake? Take my money, I don't even care. Leave it alone? that's fine by me. No matter what they do I'm happy, so internalizing hopes and dreams just is a setup for disappointment.

would LOVE to be proven wrong, though.

I'm not really sure how that makes sense. They don't need to be owned to be consistently contracted by Sony to make PS games.

I'd say they eventually took the offer over issues of security and expansion. It's probably safer for them to be part of Sony rather than remain an independent entity, and their potential for growth and expansion would be greater too

I really feel like there has to be a State of Play/Showcase coming soonish.

Spoiler!

We have the HellDivers 2 trailer leak

The_Snitch posted in his discord of a new AAA PlayStation IP coming in the next couple weeks

There are also a few PC games that are likely to get announced soonish. Returnal, Sackboy, Horizon Forbidden West has gotten lots of teases, The Last of Us Remake we know is coming to PC.

We also haven't gotten much for PSVR2.

There's a lot that seems like it should be announced in the next few months.

I think it's also possible that we just get a GoW SOP with 1 or 2 announcements accompanying it, and then their showcase later.

But at some time, Sony is going to have to show off a suite of new upcoming titles. I hope for some cool stuff!

Sure they didn't need to be owned by Sony to make exclusives to them (but all those IPs belonged to Sony so they had little for themselves), and when they either gone multiplat with another publisher or had done an exclusive to Xbox (good game from what all say) the sales were very lukewarm. So as you said it would be a lot safer to be fully under the umbrella of Sony, even more if they were to keep making PS exclusives, with this they were able to expand and improve their game a lot, the only caveat for them would be the loss of freedom (but that we don't know how much impacted them).

My condolences go out to all parties involved, and the 3 poor souls that still play it.

They will be sorely remembered I guess.

Man, Sony really has to pull out all the stops to beat the Nintendo direct! (weirdly enough the actual discourse in the nintendo thread is weirdly critical; I thought it was really good).

Octopath II, Theatrhythm, Zelda, Pikmin, and Fire Emblem were all pretty massive to me. not a huge fan of pikmin but that's still a pretty big game and an official announcement is great.

So, I don't expect MUCH from Sony (not that I don't have faith, I just like to keep my expectations low), but I'd like to see Spider-Man 2, Horizon VR, and God of War. Even thugh none of those are Japanese. I know they said they'd be focusing more on the Japanese developers, so we'll probably see some Final Fantasy and Street Fighter in there.

And I repeat: Don't go begging for a Bloodborne announcement! We all know we all want it, getting your hopes up will only end in pain!

I don't think Sony will beat this Direct. I expect at most 2 unknow titles of some relevance.

I mean, the biggest thing for me was Octopath and it's coming to PlayStation anyway, we also got a release date for Crisis Core so I'm very happy there! But yeah guys, keep your expectations low for the State of Play tonight, otherwise you're gonna' come in here crying that they haven't announced the games you dreamed up lol

Wait, really? The first one never did unless I'm completely mistaken.

To be fair Sony did say 10 games, so probably 10, 2-minute trailers. No extended gameplay or announcements. I'm okay with that.

exactly... and in the end was better than expected (not only because I wasn't expecting anything good).
