I did not expect an Animal Crossing, Metroid, Pokemon 2019 or Mother 3 that some people did (I don't understand why). The things that brings the grade down is the abscense of Retro and too much focus on smash. |
With the fact that nothing major was revealed, it was kinda like the 2015 direct. We did get our first looks at Fire Emblem and Smash, but they weren't revealed here.

Good point. How do they intend to sell 20 million Switches on pretty much just Pokemon and Smash? Maybe if Let's Go was the true Gen 8, but even then, the lineup just isn't there. |
It's possible Fire Emblem was part of that plan and was delayed.
Pokemon, Smash, and Yokai should ensure a very healthy year though. This wasn't catastrophic like some people are acting like. Set aside personal taste and Nintendo still has some significant releases coming at the right times this year.
Haven't finished it yet, but why does Fire emblem look like a 3ds game?
| JEMC said: Had they shown a trailer, or at least a bigger teaser, of Prime 4 and Bayo 3 while cutting off half of the Smash content (mostly useless and better suited for Treehouse or another kind of presentation), it would have been a very good Direct. Sadly, they haven't and the end result felt too long and boring. At least they showed some interesting games/ports that will keep Switch owners entertained. 6.0/10 |
For June and July for sure. August if you have a backlog. From September onwards we don't exactly have a very clear release schedule. Even the SplatDLC doesn't have a release date.
They need another Direct as soon as possible and announce more games.

Daemon x Machina was revealed as was a Mario Party that DOESN'T look like hot garbage :P
And they did have some 3rd party surprises...before leaks screwed them over.
Not the most exciting E3, I agree, but still solid.

This thread is all about personal taste. Setting it aside would miss the point.
the Smash Bros portion was amazing, but overall they did not have enough time dedicated to announcing new games. i get that treehouse will help with that over the next few days, but today was just underwhelming. I give it a 6/10
