It could potentially become an option in the future ...

Heck, why chalk up technical difficulties to just the Switch or mobile platforms ? There's no reason to believe this solution couldn't be used to circumvent the limitations of PC and home console systems as well in comparison to games being made solely for render farms ...

However, rentals are not as profitable as selling the full copy in this case so cloud services can't only be a viable model for recuperating AAA game production costs. It's highly likely in the long term that AAA 3rd party game publishers will continue to design their games around the large install base of PC and home consoles to be on the safe side ...

Cloud gaming just becomes another invaluable tool so as to provide content on inaccessible systems such as the Switch or other portable hardware platforms where AAA game publishers couldn't monetize before ...

What Capcom is doing is not much different than what Sony was doing back when they were offering a PS Now service for devices other than Playstation to access it's library ...

The future is cloud and streaming deal with it, PlayStation , Xbox and even PC games will be about streaming especially when moor laws is at it's peak. Many GPU will be more expensive to produce on future and an online cloud gaming server is redundant and likely will be the backbone of cheaper concept for gaming. It seems imposible for now or even another 10 years , but i can see PS7 or Xbox 4 will be fully cloud.

Look, I'm not into horror games, but I'd like this option for ANY game (though it shouldn't be the ONLY way to get the game; you should be able to buy it outright if you want). The VAST majority of games I play I have zero interest in playing again, with a few exceptions. If I could pay $20 for those games, with the condition that I can't after 6 months, then why not? Sure, you can't resell them if you don't own them, but with Best buy ending gamers unlocked and Amazon increasingly reducing the 20% off games prices, along with insanely fast download speeds and the ability to uninstall and reinstall games you own on the Switch and other devices, I am losing interest in buying physical games in the first place.

you're extrapolating too much stuff from this

I know how I'll deal with it. By never buying those consoles.

No? Why would they? Most people buy a game, play it and then they're done. They'll make more money from selling a $60 game then renting a 180-day pass for $10. Who is going to rent it more than once? Other than an extreme increase in price over the Resident Evil VII situation, it doesn't make sense.

Cloud-Gaming will be the standard post-ps5, we're talking another 10+ years away.

No and why are we even talking about next Xbox when Ms already said there will be no generation for xbox.there may be a new Xbox but that will be called Xbox one y or z .we only know that there going to be a next gen PlayStation.so we should only speculate about PlayStation.

Maybe they will offer PS4 and Xbox One cloud versions of PS5/XB2 games for people who have fast internet and aren't ready to invest into the new consoles yet.

Doesn't even have to be current gen systems when next gen systems release. Just grab a crap ass laptop or a smart TV and cloud gaming should just magically work. PS5/XB2 on cloud could work as far back as PS3 or 360 ...

And if people think Nintendo are immune to this then they are in for a rude awakening since cloud makes it far easier for them to achieve console tier experiences on the go and that's been their MO since the Switch released so cloud gaming as a future resonates even more with Nintendo's goals ...

Makes no sense since Capcom would make those games to run on the consoles.
