Club football = Capitalist business model, elite teams with most money buy the best players to win trophies.
International football = Playing for country of birth, national teams can not buy players up from other nations.

Club football = Ruined by the Premier league and money.

National team football = Ruined by side politics.

Its all a big ole shit barrel in my opinion.

Brazil - Costa rica = 3-0 (Im gonna quit this world cup if Brazil won´t win)
Nigeria - Iceland = 0-0
Serbia - Switzerland = 0-1 Switzerland was really good against Brazil and I think they have an edge over Serbia.

Having seen both Ronaldo and Messi in person this world cup imo Ronaldo is far superior. Obviously he's scoring and Messi isn't but more importantly Messi spent more time hiding on the wings or behind his midfield then actually attacking.

Meanwhile Ronaldo is effectively attacking and putting it some proper defensive work. I was about 20m from some of his clearing headers and man he has a serious jump.

Honestly, I don't think Messi really wants to play for this Argentina side. He's there so moreso because other people want him there than because he wants to himself, if anything he just looks frustrated at how shitty everything around him is. His attitude today was glaring, really.

That's not good enough from an all time great. Portugal were given no chance to win the last euros yet Ronaldo dragged them to the title including the qualifiers. He's just amazing. And as I said Ronaldo contributes handsomely to portugal with defensive play aswell.

He never really even played the final though... so there wasn't any "dragging" there

In the overall context of the tournament he did though.

Indeed.

Ronaldo learned to be a better of more complete player with his national team.

Messi didn't learn much at all. I think it just reminds him about his own limitations, the ones he seemingly cannot surpass. Difficult to say for sure, but in any case, he looks like a beaten-down man dragged to a boring office party by his wife.

In the wilderness we go alone with our new knowledge and strength.

Take an Iceland for example. Not all of the players are actually profesional footballers. They go full for teamwork and defensive football. You´d rather have them out then them come far?
Im not judging btw I totally get it. Im pretty annoyed Argentina is already going out of the World cup and they are in the group with Iceland.

Which ones aren't? Because as far as I can see every single one of them plays for a professional club.

Bit of a weird thing tbh. Essentially from what I´ve heard the Goalkeeper is a co time film director https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hannes_%C3%9E%C3%B3r_Halld%C3%B3rsson.

He played in The Netherlands I remember him, he wasn´t very good but he´s been great at the NT.

Also the right back Birkir Saevarsson is a salt packager but also for different reasons then people claimed (He does it to keep himself grounded which just makes me respect the guy even more) https://www.nytimes.com/aponline/2018/06/15/world/europe/ap-soc-wcup-john-leicester-go-iceland.html

I give Portugal credit for winning but let´s be fair. They technically drew all games except 2 one of which Ronaldo didnt even play. And don´t act like Portugal is this hit team with just Ronaldo. Bernardo Silva, Moutinho, Patricio, Queresma, Guerreiro, Gomes (He isnt there now but he was good at the Euros), Jao Mario, Sanchez (Was also amazing at the euros but has turned shit now) and Guedes who has had an amazing season with Valencia. Ronaldo is easily their main player but even without Ronaldo they have a good squad. Messi is doing it with a coach that obviously doesnt know how to play Argentina. I find it sad for him in the WC of 2014 he and Mascherano stood miles above the rest of the squad and now its almost as if he has never accomplished anyhing with Argentina. 2 Copa america finals and a WC final. I´d say being the 2nd in the world is a pretty big achievement especially if you consider that the germany squad they lost to smashed Brazil 7-1. I just find it harsh to see how people react to someone who is obviously one of the best if not the best player of all time.

He looks stressed. He can feel the people pushing him and its wearing him out especially after the heavy season he has had with Barca.

Costa Rica would be clever to stack up on Neymar today, try cause an easy injury.
