for me its the original one. it was the best FPS ever imo . i could play through the campign 100 times, then i would pwn my friends in 4 player spitl screen.

i didnt really like halo 2. when i had my 360, my friend let me borrow halo 2 as an early startoff game, and the campign was terrible. the online multi player was excellent. it changed the way we play online on consoles. i didnt realyl appreciate the online then because i played it on a 360 which hadb etter online capabilities. and why o why did they remove the assault rifle and put that crusty smg?

halo 3 was OK. the campign was a slight improvement from halo 2, but still fucked up in many ways. it had good maps, and it had good features like forge and 4 player online campign. the online was good because all my firends played it, but then it got boaring as hell. not the same online addiction as cod4.

3 is my favourite. Then Halo 1.

1 had the best campaign. 2 was a big letdown. 3 was the best over all.

the first halo, but then again it had the most development time, the largest levels, and the best story, even including the backtracking. also no stupid boss battles like the last battle in halo 2 ... so bad.... though maybe the reactor level counts as a boss battle... didnt feel like it, but again it was open in halo 1

halo 2 was good, i did not particularly like the aribter levels but i can respect them, i just hated that the game kept getting more and more confined like it is in 3 where so many places, have load screens where you cant go back.

I didnt even really mind the lack of a real ending that people seemed pissed over in halo 2...

honestly it comes down to development time, and halo had been worked on forever for the mac platform before ms bought them and used it for the xbox

did halo 1 have online play?

Halo 1 by far, it's one of the best games ever. I must have played through it at least 5 times now!

Halo 2 was disappointing, it just wasn't as open-ended as the first one. And the ending pissed EVERYONE off.

The campaign in Halo 3 was also disappointing, it was far too short. And it wasn't even set on a Halo! (Apart from the last level) Considering the Halo series had jumped a generation and there was all the "finish the fight" hype, Halo 3 simply wasn't good enough. The multiplayer is great fun though.

I would have to say the first one. My friend has just picked up his Xbox as well as Halo and we were both having a lot of fun playing co-op. The other two were surrounded with lots of hype and "Halo is the only game that's good" type of crap which damaged my interest in it.

Thus the first one, in my opinion, is the best.

the campaing of halo 1 was tha best because there was no online i think, i beat that game like 9 or 10 times, heroic, legendary. The halo 2 campaing wasnt that good, but the multiplayer was the strong part of the game, and halo 3 is the most balanced. But, i think than because was the first and was really amaizing for that time, Halo 1 is the best.

Halo 4 cuz I don't have to hear people banging on about how good it is.

Thats really hard. I would say Halo 1. The campaign was unbelievable. Some of the levels would take more than an hour on legendary, so awesome! You really can't beat a CTF game with 6+ people on Blood Gulch or Sidewinder. Those were epic.
