I would have to say the first one. My friend has just picked up his Xbox as well as Halo and we were both having a lot of fun playing co-op. The other two were surrounded with lots of hype and "Halo is the only game that's good" type of crap which damaged my interest in it.
Thus the first one, in my opinion, is the best.
