Instead of seeking to convince others, we can be open to changing our own minds, and seek out information that contradicts our own steadfast point of view. Maybe it’ll turn out that those who disagree with you actually have a solid grasp of the facts. There’s a slight possibility that, after all, you’re the one who’s wrong.

Between witcher 3 ans breath of the wild two od my favorite games of all time. Red dead redemption rght behind

The exploration in Breath of the Wild is hands down the best in any game I've encountered, so that is what got my vote. I technically rank both NES Zelda 1 and Ultima 4 as better as a whole though. These would have been considered open world in their day, but probably don't look like that any more.

I picked ‘other’ with my nod going to Far Cry 5. I can’t recall having this much fun in an open world game. And that’s coming from a mostly online multiplayer fan.

It's really that fun? Worth full price?

Well, I enjoyed it.  Your tastes may differ though.  Of that list, I’ve only played BotW (didn’t care for it much as weapon damage was annoying), GTA 5 (decent, but I was easily sidetracked away from the quest line).  Again, open world games aren’t really my thing so there’s that.

Wouldn't Fallout 4 be considered an open world game?  I’m surprised that’s not on the list.

No Skyrim? Witcher 3 then, followed by BOTW.

Not having Skyrim on the poll is an outright crime, sorry to say.

Bet with Intrinsic:

The Switch will outsell 3DS (based on VGchartz numbers), according to me, while Intrinsic thinks the opposite will hold true. One month avatar control for the loser's avatar.

I voted for The Witcher 3. I had to think hard about whether my favorite was BotW of TW3. It came down to DLC. TW3 had the best DLC that I have ever played. BotW had crap DLC.

Actually, after thinking about it more, I'm pissed at how weak BotW's DLC was. I was really looking forward to it (especially the second piece). But, when I played it, I found it very underwhelming. It really tarnished my memories of the game. If this poll came out before I played that DLC, I very likely would have voted for BotW.

I'll also note that GTAV is an excellent game, as is H:ZD.

I wouldn't put Farcry 5 as a best ever.  But, I thought it was a great game.  I bought it at launch, and found it to be worth every penny.

My most favorite is still Fallout 3. The Witcher 3, is a very close second for me though.

I wouldn't call Gothic 2 "open-world" the way we understand it today. It had "worlds" with loading screens, albeit just 3 for the whole game. But for it's time (2002) it was no doubt the best.
