Forums - Politics Discussion - White Millenial Men Now Majority Republican

This typically happens as you get older, in general. It's why it's incorrect to think that "republicans are old people, and will go away, leaving a vast majority of liberals".

With age comes wisdom.

Conservatives and moderates today would have been liberals 60 years ago.  I don't here anyone suggesting we bring back segregation.  The issues shift and while only twenty years ago LGBT was considered fringe, it's now largely accepted, especially by young people.  It just won't be an issue in thirty years and we'll have new things to debate that liberals of today may struggle with.

Actually, giving people free lunches and getting more people spending in the economy will be a good thing. Whereas throwing money into a hole like the US military does nothing to help spur domestic economic growth. Even in your extremely simple reduction the intelligent choice (in terms of what would be better for the country) is completely obvious.

Um...really...?  So, they don't pay anyone?  They don't give out contracts to domestic companies?  Do you think that money just disappears into the ether?

The money disappears overseas.

Do you think that rich military contractors actually spend money at the consumer spending level? Of course not. It's all investments and hording away in tax havens. If you want to stimulate the economy, the dumbest thing you can do is give rich people more money. When you give poor people money, they spend it right back on goods and services. That's what drives the economy. It's logic so simple an elementary school student could get it.

I don't know where you're getting your information, but that money goes into a ton of domestic corporations on government contracts, which provides people with JOBS, which earns them MONEY, which they SPEND.

I mean our army doesnt get paid at all right?

We have about 1.2 million armed forces and 800k reserves. Let's say that the average salary of the 2 million is $50,000.

That means 100 billion dollars goes to salary. The budget for the military is 640 billion dollars.

The budget for SNAP, food assistance for our nation's poorest is 60 billion dollars. So if it's the "free lunch" vs the military money pit, it's fairly obvious to see which is more fiscally responsible.

You're blatantly ignoring other destinations for that money, which I very simply laid out for you.

The budget for SNAP, food assistance for our nation's poorest for example is 60 billion dollars.

Assistance budget =/- budget covering WORK/JOBS. Our budget for handing out money for nothing shouldnt equal what we spend on people that earn that money through working like the army. Then you have to factor in the budget that goes to developing new military gear/weapons, etc. Those are high paying industries. The budget for contractors that rebuild bombed out places.  Budget for pensions and veterans. Budget that goes to fueling and the many people working in the energy industry. That 640 billion isnt just flushed down the toilet. It's going to organizations and the people employed by them. The military and wartime provides employment at good salaries for many people.

Veteran benefits are not part of that 640 billion. They have a separate 177 billion dollars for funding.

The government spends far more welfare money on the military than it does on the nation's poorest. It's a travesty especially since giving the nation's poorest money to spend back into the economy is one of the easiest way's to boost everyone upwards. Whereas giving Lockheed Martin and Boeing more military contracts just ends up with most of that money in tax havens.  And money that is being parked in tax havens does jack shit for the American economy.

There are 2 Trillion dollars in tax havens right now.  That's the problem. There's no enforcement of tax evasion law since tax evasion has become legal for only the super rich.

Today the main differences between GOP and DMC is:

GOP want to make more debt to build stronger and stronger military, DMC want to make more debt to give free lunch to whoever want to cross the country's border unchecked.

In both ways, ther result will be the demise of US, there is already 21+ trillion dollars in debt whose yield rates are kept artificially low by the actions of th FED.

It's not. Giving people money to be unproductive will always lead to inflation. There is less incentive work and procude goods = less goods being produced or no inovation to improve productivity. It means that in the long run, there will be less goods and more money flowing in the economy = the money value will fall and the prices of the goods will rise.

It was tried countless times on several nations through the past century: printing money and giving to everybody  and the result was always hyperinflation.

I used to be liberal, until I actually woke up and saw people for what they really are. Stereotypes are mostly true, all men are not created equal, and I am now a conservative. You have to look after yourself because no one else will.

It happens and it’ll happen to you.
