Call it wishful thinking, call it a hunch....but I think there are many things pointing to Sony releasing new hardware this holiday.
The slim is their entry model. It's not going anywhere. A PS4 portable would benthenproce of a Pro, most likely more.
A PS4P is still a PS4 and fall under their sales projections so point 2 makes no sense.
The devkits could easily just be upgrades for tech they are looking at pushing on the ps5 and are using PS4 as the starting point, with more proper ps5 devkits later. But sure could be portable PS4.
PS4 isnatill selling in JPN. It's selling faster than the PS3 so they are seeing an improvement over last gen. Regardless the sales lost in JPN ara more than offset by their gains in the middle East and SEA.
I don't really see the bad news here. Ps+ losing PS3 and vita support has been expected for a couple of years now. A PS4 portable doesn't make the news better or digestable. A PS4P is still a ps4.
a ps4p has been discussed numerous times before. It doesn't replace the PS4. It's an extension. Of course it will be digital only, that much is obvious. Likewise it playing your PS4 digital library would be the whole point...
I don't think is happening now. If it does then that is great. It will happen when ps5 comes. By then a portable PS4 should be more realisable, cheaper to make and aim at a different market from the more traditional ps5.
