Forums - Sales - Playstation 2 original Vs. Playstation 2 slim

You like your consoles taking up more space? This thread is so ridiculous.

LEFT4DEAD411.COM
Bet with disolitude: Left4Dead will have a higher Metacritic rating than Project Origin, 3 months after the second game's release.  (hasn't been 3 months but it looks like I won :-p )

hmm, ok. Well, imo, bigger isnt better, and i believe that this is the opinion of the majority of the worlds population. You wanna know why i think this? Because if it wasnt true, then why would they make a smaller, slimmer PS2? :P Yeah, your opinion, i know, just saying :P Also, about the smaller one being cheaper.. maybe they use slightly different production methods which makes it cheaper? as time goes on, there are new ways to make things in cheaper ways, and more than likely Sony decided to do this to lower the price. I personally like neither. The original PS2 looks... outdated? Its large and bulky, and isnt too appealing to the eye imo. Not very stylish. The new slimmer one... i dont like it particularly either. It just seems to look (to a certain extent) kinda cheap, and i dont like that random black line across the middle. However, i would choose this version over the original any day, as it is cheaper, has the same compatibility and features as the original (but comes with the network adaptor built in, dont think that came with the originals), and its smaller. My 2 cents

Well, when you put it like that, it sounds rediculous. I don't know. It's hard to explain. I just think it looks nicer, and its bigger size makes it stand out more.

Yeah, the slimmer PS2 does look cheaper. Anyways, I know that the slimmer PS2 has more built in features, but I just think the older one looks nicer. I don't know, I guess the blue font, and blue vertical stand add some color to the system, unlike the revised model, which has no color at all, and looks, and is, cheaper.

You are entitled to prefer the bigger look. You can't, hoever, honestly say that you get more of anything with a lager design. The memory is the same; the processors have the same power and speed; the outputs and inputs are the same; and the drive is just as fast.

The only things missing are the auto loading, which is a matter of preference, not in terms of actual use, and the lack of an HDD bay, which was poorly supported anyway (online does come built in), and imperfect BC, but not every model of the larger PS2 has perfect BC. Yet the first two were choices by Sony to leave out. They could have left them in, without any significant extra size (the last was accidental). You don't get any more of something because it is bigger. You get more of something if there is actually more included.

A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.

Plus, just for the hell of it: Kelly Brook at the 2008 BAFTAs

Although the bulky PS2s fans made a lot of noise, you can feel the PSTwo disc drive vibrating when the console is loading. To me aesthetics mean nothing, it's what's in the inside that counts (I had a PS1,and have a PS2 and PS3, never have I felt the need for a PSOne, PSTwo or (in the future) PSThree) I just had a thought, by the time that the PS567 comesv out, that means that the smaller version would be called PSFiveHundredandSixtySeven - meaning that the console would have to be larger just to fit the name on.

Wow, wow, wow. Do they actually call it a PSTwo? Okay, seriously, why must they change the numerical portions of the Playstation names to alphabetical whenever they revise their consoles?
