Is the game as linear as they say?

If it is it wont be a game for me.

If it isn't turnbased it isn't worth playing   (mostly)

And shepherds we shall be,

For Thee, my Lord, for Thee. Power hath descended forth from Thy hand, That our feet may swiftly carry out Thy command. So we shall flow a river forth to Thee And teeming with souls shall it ever be. In Nomine Patris, et Filii, et Spiritūs Sancti. -----The Boondock Saints

There's plenty of side quests, and exploration and area's you dont have to go to, but can... and usually rewards for doing so.
Theres area's where you might not be able to "reach" a treasure chest, until lateron when you get certain skills that deal with travelsal ect.
So if your a completist you might redo certain parts, or go back to certain area's lateron.

Theres a boat to travel around with, and if you dont feel like progressing forwards, you can always go exploreing.
alot of reviewers have called it a "semi-open world" game.

The closest comparison is Tomb Raider 2013.

Really depends on what their reasons are.

If they bring up some really good reasons why they don't enjoy the game, then it's understandable.

If they pull what that Uncharted 4* review did, then it's a troll job.

*If you don't remember.  There was a low review that came out, and it was a 7 paragraph review.  Of those 7 paragraphs, they dedicated a full paragraph to complaining about the fact that there was a 4 on the cover of the game.

The guy complained the game looked so good it stunned him and he did not know where to go/what to do.

lol

That may be the reason Nintendo go for more cartoon and less realism, so the reviewers won't be overwhelmed and forgot it is a game... because when they score it like a movie the average is lower.

from the general gist on the game so far.

  • hub world design (think of it as levels connected via a central place you navigate through)
  • there is a main path but there are areas you can branch off to whenever you want.
  • side areas also have optional bosses which is said by some to be just as good as the main quest
  • metrovania style backtracking (see things in levels that you can't access but get items or abilities later in the game that allows you come back to them...if you can remember where you saw them)
  • 25-30hr main quest.... if doing all the side stuff should be a 43-50hr game.
I doubt anyone has described it solely or primarily as a "linear game"

So for a 1080p ps4 Pro user the performance mode won't be a stable 60fps? I believe it will be the same as past titles though so it won't annoy me.

But if I choose resolution mode on my ps4 Pro with my 1080p TV I presume it will supersample and look better on my TV then performance mode?

Yeah, I'm avoiding that video. It's got new locations and other spoilers in it.
