Forums - Nintendo - Prediction: Kirby Star Allies will flop hard.

In the worst case scenario it will still sell 1M units even if it's priced at $60 ...

The franchise is on a decline anyways ever since it became annualized and HAL Laboratory don't care as much for quality control anymore or aim beyond just decency ...

What decline are you speaking of?

Dreamland (1992)-5.13 million

Pinball Land (1993)-2.19 million

Adventure (1993)-1.75 million

Dream Land 2 (1995)-2.36 million

Super Star (1996)-1.44 million

Block Ball (1996)-0.32 million

Star Stacker (1997)-0.22 million

Dream Course (1997)-0.59 million

Dream Land 3 (1997)-0.36 million

Crystal Shards (2000)-1.77 million

Tilt N Tumble (2001)-1.23 million

Nightmare in Dreamland (2002)-2.27 million

Air Ride (2003)-1.62 million

Amazing Mirror (2004)-1.64 million

Canvas Curse (2005)-0.72 million

Squeak Squad (2006)-1.94 million

Super Star Ultra (2008)-2.93 million

Epic Yarn (2010)-2.09 million

Mass Attack (2011)-1.00 million

Return to Dreamland (2011)-1.66 million

Triple Deluxe (2014)-1.95 million

Rainbow Curse (2015)-0.58 million

Planet Robobot (2016)-1.30 million

Battle Royale (2018)-0.18 million

Seems like Kirby is a pretty stable 1-2 million seller for the last 25 years with the exception of some poor selling spinoffs.

You know review scores are inflated when a 74 is treated like a garbage score.

I highly doubt it will flop.

Gotta say, I'm a bit disappointed in this. What's here is fun (and the final boss is one of Kirby's best), but the game is really short, even by the standards of the series, with less replay since the collectibles are not all that well hidden. Unless you're really gonna take advantage of the multiplayer feature (like if you have kids to play with) it's just not worth 60 bucks since other cheaper Kirby games (like Robobot) are better.

I expect to sell well considering this is the first big game since Xenoblade released the past december.

Yeah I think this game is a good example that not all games should be full price. This really should've been $40 USD, not 60.

I actually expected the game to be $40-$50 based on Woolly World and Tropical Freeze, but clearly that logic was misguided. Probably the only reason those games were at a lower price was because of the Wii U failing. Now that Nintendo is back on top they don't have to be as charitable. I wont be surprised if Treasure Tracker is full priced too.

Well, I'm fine with 60 but then I'm a big Kirby fan so not really fair :P

And I think if you are big in to co-op it's more worth it.

But I think 40 is a bit low.  50 is I think kinda the sweet spot cause I'm really enjoying what I've played and the production values are there, the game looks gorgeous.

Disappointing to have the first major 1st party release that isn't great...  Yet there could be worse things.

Oh it is beautiful, no doubt about it, the lighting and colours are sublime. But it's not the kind of game that would've cost a whole lot to make. $50 probably is a more realistic option on second thoughts, I just think $60 is a tad steep.
