I mean I much rather have Sea of Thieves for $80 since it has no limit on play time and I will surely drop a hundred or two hours on it over the course of a few years, a much better deal than a story game that I play once for 30 hours within a week, and never touch again. GoW isn't worth $80 imo since it lacks play time, maybe $40. I don't know, I think buying GoW for $80 is the equivalent of going to the bar and spending $100 in one night, waste of money for an experience one will forget.

I think this is where people differ. I for one would pay that $60 on a memorable 35hr experience, than pay $30 for unlimited boredom.

YouTube what beta players have been saying - you won’t find many players bored.  But if you can’t find fun in a highly social game, then maybe it’s you, and not the game that’s ‘boring’.

Yep, people just have different tastes. I was shocked today when I checked my Dead By Daylight stats on Xbox and saw I’m almost at 900 hours. And it cost me $30. Good luck to any single player game ever made to match that kind of longevity and value.

In my very particular case, I can only think of Final Fight, SOTN, Vagrant Story, RTCW, Max Payne and FFXIII. But, yeah, a pretty tall order indeed.

Hit the nail on the head. Social games are all about creating your own fun and being social. Strangly enough i guess alot of gamers out there that think these games are boring are probably boring people in general. I wonder if they ever heard of Minecraft, a game with alot less things to do in it apart from building, yet is consider one of the best selling games of all time.

Not everything needs that epic and cinematic experience to sell well or get high reviews. Different tastes for different gamers. These type of games are based around the simple fun factor.

More like God of War vs Nintendo Labor.

Sea of Thieves looks visually amazing, even breathtaking at some occasions. But it feels like it'll get repetitive and boring too quickly gameplay wise.

God of War could have been a lot better if Sony SMS opted for a more traditional free camera hack and slash (like in NieR Automata) instead of locking it close to the character shoulder as if it's a TPS. They do seem to be doing a good job considering the shortcomings of the perspective they went for.

In two years when Sea of Thieves is celebrating its 2nd anniversary with their 6th update complete with new ships, quests, bosses, items, and new friends - be sure to let us know how fun GoW was.  I’m sure we’ll care.

And the majority of SoT players who will play this year won't care about that stuff in 2 years either.

I wondered if you could zoom out the camera in GoW but it seems that the answer is no :/ I don't like how close to the character the camera is :/

OT: God of War will sell more.

Possibly or possibly not.  But MMOs tend to have long attachment ratios.  I say that as a WoW player who's played the game off and on for over 14 years now.  When do I come back?  When they launch large content patches.  Where will GoW be?

I don't have enough patience to spend 900 hours on a game. Hell, most games i have a tough time playing it for over 100 hours.

Sea of thieves will probably sell similar to something like Mario tennis Aces. That is not a insult. I believe both games are probably very good and both will sell respectively.
