Hmm, you know what, I think it would make more sense to be like Discord where you go by the user #, because in reality there are actually users who have spaces in their names (like Kudistos Megistos or however his name is spelled). I think it'd also be cool if mentioning them automatically comes with a hyperlink.

Edit:

Yeah, here is an example of a user with a space in the name:

Instead of seeking to convince others, we can be open to changing our own minds, and seek out information that contradicts our own steadfast point of view. Maybe it’ll turn out that those who disagree with you actually have a solid grasp of the facts. There’s a slight possibility that, after all, you’re the one who’s wrong.

Didn't know this was a thing but I like it

Numbers are too cumbersome for this - it's just meant as a simple way to "ping" somebody...   ...and I'm not even sure how that particular user managed to have a space in their username like that, as the current code will strip out any spaces if you attempt to register a user with one, so I can only guess he's a VERY rare case (probably registered at a time before the code was changed).

There's no way to possibly make every single person happy with this, nor is it possible to try and account for every scenario. Just doing the best I can with what I have... :)

There are actually quite a few people with a space in their name:

Would it be possible to make the "@username" an actual hyperlink to that specific user's profile/wall?
