What's the benefit of this again? XB1 owners will get DLC earlier than PS4? At this point I dont think that'll make a difference.

I think Sony and Activision already know it's going to be huge sucess and will sell the best on PS4.  If rumours are true I guess letting Activision get some free money from MS is the idea?

If for the esports community and the CoD fans that like to get the DLC first. It's also a Black Ops game so it should help sell consoles.

Sony had a 5 year deal that started in 2013. That would mean they would still have marketing rights.

Started 2015 with Black Ops 3. MS had it for Ghosts and Advanced Warfare.  Deal was for the 3 year dev cycle. The cycle ended with sledgehammer last year and starts all over with Treyarch so the deal is done unless Sony renews.

Was there an official confirmation that Sony signed a 3 year developer rotation deal? I thought they just had yearly deals with first rights of refusal like Assassin's Creed.

This is certainly significant news. Call of Duty can move consoles, and we all know MS will push the game on X1X. This also proves that Activision didn't "leave" Microsoft for Sony in the beginning like a lot of people suggested. They go to whoever pays them the most. I wonder if there will still be timed exclusive DLC since Phil Spencer spoke out against that.

This is certainly believable, and if it is true, Sony only has themselves to blame. They did a poor job of handling the franchise. I was worried this would happen when Sony didn’t even have a special edition COD console for Christmas 2016. Don’t think that ever happened when MS had the rights. Then Sony released the hideous SE console for CODWW2 this past year. Much of what Sony has done for COD has seemed lazy, and so I would understand if Activision wanted to go back to MS.

It's not gonna matter sales wise. It'll still sell more on PS4, due to console sales.

Just something to take in mind for the current generation and the split between the cod games in-between xbox one and ps4.

MICROSOFT DEAL
Ghosts:
Xbone: 3.05m
PS4: 4.17m

Advance warfare:
Xbone: 5.22m
PS4: 7.53m

SONY DEAL
Black ops 3:
Xbone: 7.26m
PS4: 14.98m

Infinite Warfare:
Xbone: 4.62m
Ps4: 8.02m

WWII:
Xbone: 5.50m
PS4: 11.46m

Now it's pretty clear that when microsoft had the deal it was pushing software way more and the split in-between xbone and ps4 was way smaller than what it is now. I think if microsoft signed this deal it can push more console in the usa and help close the gap.

I agree with this.

If Microsoft has both Battlefield V and BlopsIIII,that could very well give them the upper hand in the US this fall.

Bet with Intrinsic:

The Switch will outsell 3DS (based on VGchartz numbers), according to me, while Intrinsic thinks the opposite will hold true. One month avatar control for the loser's avatar.

It's a 5 year deal. WWII would have been year 4.

They signed for 1 rotation of all 3 Devs, so 3 years.

They started with AW and now are on COD WWII. Both of which are SledgeHammer games, so no they didn't.

We will see a massive change of PS4 to X1 ownership, over 10M consoles just on the Marketing... with the DLC that will reach 50M

What evidence do you have of this? People aren't going to switch to an Xbox just because marketing it says its better. Communities are huge and that would require entire groups of friends to switch to a new, and expensive console. I don't think that's likely.

The very best evidence ever, called sarcasm.

Well it doesn't prove anything until there's confirmation of it.

Besides, I thought it was common knowledge that this has always been about money? I wonder who really thought they 'just left'?

You would be surprised. There were several people in this thread who insisted that Activision ditched the XBO because the PS4 had a higher install base (and not for any other reason, like MS' marketing deal ending).
