Did ps4 and xbox not make up the majority of 2017 revenue?

They did,but the rise of new products selling above expectations helped to boost the market.

Why not a good old 2D graph instead ?

No spatial imagination? Here you go in boring 2D:

And for the fans of stacked columns:

Better :)

Now, how many games did you bought on the Microsoft store ?

Regardless of what some may say, the Industry is a lot healthier when Nintendo are doing well. There is Definitely a market for all 3 to coexist. Finally it's starting to mirror the previous gen when all three were selling great numbers. I find it boring when Sony dominate.

Forza Horizon 3, Forza Motorsport 6 Apex Premium Edition, Dead Rising 4, Gears of War 4, Halo: Spartan Assault & Strike and a few apps.

Most Windows games are of course on Steam (2D games and VR games), a few on Uplay (all Assassin's Creed games), some on Origin, many classics on GOG and many VR games in the Oculus store.

So this figure is really thanks to them and not switch or vr.

Game sales were in decline there since 2014. Even if they weren't the market leaders,a nice percentage came from them. It wasn't going to hit that numbers if they didn't helped.

The headline should read "UK game sales hit 5bn thanks mainly to xbox and playstation". They are the biggest contributers after all.

This feat was reached thanks to new products selling exceptionally well. If on the Box Office Paramount sudently sees an ressurgence and help the industry to break a record, in the end of the day Paramount would reach the headlines, even if in the same year Disney and Warner sold more.

It's a weird way of doing things.

It isn't really. Weird would be if they ignored that the boost came mainly from the new hardwares.
