This used to be not very interesting because ps4 was always going to beat xbox one.
Now its not very interesting because switch will always beat ps4 xD

Switch is newer and fresher. It should be beating the PS4. Xbox One was getting beaten for a whole host of other reasons. ;p

Interest remains higher now.

Not necessarily, consoles rarely peak during there first year or 2. The ps4 is currently in its peak years, so it should be beating the switch.

There are certain factors that come in to play that push hardware and Switch hit these hard within its first year, price and compelling exclusives. Nintendo really went hard on exclusives and went straight in at a really affordable price point. Xbox and PS4 were a lot slower on both fronts.

Since price drops and exclusives are used to increase or maintain momentum, how will Nintendos strategy pan out in the long-term?

Here's food for thought. PS4 is currently retailing at the same price as the Switch with around 80M under its belt. Can you see Switch hitting that without a pricecut? Who has the better long term plan?

Not saying Nintendo has used all its exclusives but there is a point where they'll exhaust the use of their IPs on the Switch.

With that said, Switch is more than capable of hitting 20M for the next couple of years. Nintendo short-term game is spot on but It'll be interesting how it does long-term.

Come on now, it's 'PS4 Fool's Edition'. It's traditional.

I will need an explanation on this...

Which PS4 ? You didn't highlight anything on the quote.

And more importantly why ? I guess I am not aware of this tradition...lol

There was a time when (for one reason or another) the PS4 standalone outsold the bundles at the time. This went on for quite a long time and so I called it the 'fool's edition'. It became part of the good humoured tone of the Amazon thread and represents that era. To keep it is to remember the 'good old days'. It's traditional in other words.

The PS5 Exists.

Well ... if Ken Splatoon or the Switch doesn't take that spot first.

My post didn't suggest it will be back.

O.... MH is back to number 1 in Japan. Well this is awkward!

Lets see how much Far Cry and Kirby will sell. This is about to be interesting.
