umm yea based on the evidence we have, 3.72 million shipped by DEC 31. 50 days later, japan should have received another 280k units which would have resolved stock issues, they did the same thing for big releases last year, stock piling for the big release  in japan.

You do realize shipped is not just what is on shelves but also what is in transit. Nintendo has certainly shipped a further 280k in the last 6 weeks.

so why are there stock issues?

You dont seem to understand math and peoples expectations are irrelevent to this discussion.

In Q1-Q3 of 2017, Switch averaged ~45k/week.

So far in 2018, Switch has averaged ~61k/week.

By no definition of the word has demand dropped.

Not being 100% sold out does not mean demand has dropped.

you don't seem to understand context. so if  switch starts doing 20k a week for the next 2 weeks, thats not slowing down? it would still have a higher average, but with clear signs its slowing down.

It has done 40-50k for the last 5 weeks with not a single relevant release, its not dropping to 20k so no point in even discussing that.

You also seem to forget that Switch had plenty of 20-25k weeks last spring/summer yet the average was 45k, do you know why that is? Major software releases increase weekly sales which levels out the average.

oh please, nobody knew the baseline of switch last year, it was selling everything it shipped, switch last year was  held back by stock.

Because a couple 100k in a country of 127m is not alot.

Compare the shipped vs sold difference for 3DS at the end of 2017.

23.82m sold vs 24.63m shipped, a difference of over 800k.

You do a good job of deflecting.

If Switch is tracking higher and has a higher baseline this year than last year than demand is not dropping. Thats a fact.

Hmm could switch sweep the year and win every npd? I think so. I don’t think PS4 will win one npd this year.

The same sources you have been using for your Switch numbers.

And also worth pointing out that shipped means it isn't in Nintendo's hands anymore, they have sold them to retailers.  Hence the term, "sold-in".  So if they have been sold in and not yet sold through, that's not Nintendo withholding stock, that's either in the shipment end or in the retailer end.  Intentionally withholding stock would be if shipment and sold through numbers were almost the same as that would mean they are not selling enough to the retailers/suppliers.
