Seriously I have to ask why do people in this thread and multiple others keep(seemingly anyway) make it out as if they are surprised the Switch is doing well with no "new announcements". It is STILL the hottest new item as far as gaming goes and it has two of the highest rated games ever in BOTW and SMO. Bayo 2 is hot and Splatoon 2 is super fun and hot as well. So to me I would be more surprised if it was NOT selling as well s it is. Or am I just looking at it wrong?

And do not get me wrong I am super excited it is selling so well. I love to see a healthy industry! SO I hope it keeps on rolling!

Switch is a solid console + catering to the handheld market + has solid 1st party support + is a console in its 1st year while the other two are in their 5th = I haven't got a clue why it 'surprises' some people.

It’s outselling the PS4 launch aligned. Coming from Wii U, that should surprise you.

Bet with Teeqoz for 2 weeks of avatar and sig control that Super Mario Odyssey would ship more than 7m on its first 2 months. The game shipped 9.07m, so I won

Yes is but again it is not a traditional home console. It is a hybrid and caters to the handheld market as Gribble said which is a super strong market for Nintendo. So even coming from the Wii U it is not surprising.....the Wii coming from the GC was surprising. Heck I thought the Switch launch price was too much and still do but I am not surprised it is selling so well right now. It has lots of appeal some very good games already and is a handheld/home combo done right. It is still hot and fresh not even a full year old yet. So again why the seeming surprise is kind of odd. Again the surprise should be if it was doing the opposite lol. That's what made me post my post because I was like maybe I am just looking at things wrong.

Isn't it amazing. Even when PS4/XB1 fans talk straight and acknowledge the Switch is a great console, has lots of great games and is selling incredibly well, some Nintendo fans still want to argue because we're not 'surprised' enough. Jesus.

Jeez this thread falls off a cliff sometimes... i'm not reading through that nonsense!

The Switch's are doing well and Kirby is finally in the top 10, Breath of the Wild and Odyssey still showing them sexy legs!

Is there any bigger titles releasing in march outside of Kirby and Far Cry 5 that could show up and do some damage on the chart?

Agreed.

It isn't even 1 year old yet.  Of course it is still going to perform rather well without big games/new announcements for now.

In all fairness it's the existing Nintendo IPs that are pushing the Switch. Nintendo absolutely nailed it by releasing a lot of their big hitting IPs within the first year. They still have a few IPs in the bag to keep  up the momentum. I admire how Nintendo look after their IPs and use them to push hardware very effectively.
