How did psn revenue compare to Nintendos revenue as a whole this quarter? Great results for Sony especially the game division. 2017 was good but 2018 will be even better.

Ya i think their shipments numbers will basically flip flop next fiscal year. FY03/18 PS4-19m NSW-15m
FY03/19 PS4-16m NSW-20m Or something similar to that. |
I'd put ps4 shipments a little higher though, but it's early to tell

Im assuming a price cut will happen this year, if its $250 than i think it will be down by a couple million. If its $200 than i think it can be about flat.
Im personally expecting a cut to $250 sometime in the middle of the year and $200 deals during the holidays.

The times when PSN revenue was greater than Nintendo as a whole are likely over. But revenue is vanity, profit is sanity. ResetEra listed the forecasts for operating profit for both companies (Sony limited to gaming only, otherwise the comparison would be worthless) and there is a difference of only 20 billion yen in Sony's favor despite Sony forecasting almost twice of Nintendo's revenue. EDIT: Actual results through three quarters of the current fiscal year: Sony (gaming) - Revenue of 1,499 billion yen, operating profit is 157 billion yen. |
Nintendo isn't ahead by now? Tsk tsk.

Next fiscal year should see psn become an 10BN+ business. Likely bigger revenue then Microsofts entire gaming division. Unlike previous gens, when ps5 launches Sony will still make a big profit that year making the transition smooth. Sony had 3/4m ps plus subs when ps plus launched but could have as high as 50m when ps5 launches. No lower then 40m anyway. I just really hope the ps5 is fully backwards compatible with ps4. It will be very frustrating if its not.

It's not even close. *pokes Kerotan with pitchfork* |
If I had to make a guess, PSN revenue will be higher in Q1-Q3, because they have less seasonal variability than total revenue, but when Nintendo launches their online service and they get more mobile games up and running, it won't even be fun to compare the two because it'll be so skewed. (at least it won't be fun for Kerotan)
