If people who skipped the Wii U can play those games without waiting at least 10 years for a port, then yes, they ARE stolen. The value of Wii U was in EXCLUSIVITY. You bought the piece of garbage that was the Wii U because if you didn't, you couldn't play Mario Kart 8 for at least a decade. The value of Wii U was also in its LEGACY, because when you buy a Nintendo console, you expect a console with a great legacy. Then they ported Wii U games from Switch and retroactively destroyed everything the people who bought a Wii U spent money for.

If people bought a Wii U for those reasons then they're idiots, plain and simple.
People are supposed to buy a console for the games that it can play, because other consoles can't play games.

If that was the case Wii U would have sold less than Virtual Boy. Also nobody would have bought PS4 or XBox One at launch. The whole business model of consoles is based on exclusivity to some extent, otherwise, why buy a console when you can play games on your PC or smartphone?
So the reason for why Switch is a success that managed to outsell the Wii U in 10 months is that it got a bunch of Wii U games ported to it. I like that logic. Pure brilliance. |
Breath of the Wild was a Wii U title. Mario Kart 8 was a Wii U title. Splatoon 2 was an asset flip of a Wii U title. The only system seller title for Switch that was new was Super Mario Odyssey.
Also there are a lot more Wii U ports this year: Bayonetta, Donkey Kong, Hyrule Warriors...
If Nintendo didn't port Wii U games and sold the Switch on its own merits and with its own games like they used to then it wouldn't sell nearly as well. But then the Wii U wouldn't be a scam.
