Backlash or no, 9M is still really good

Proves that even if EA is rated the worst company, people are still willing to give them money

Nine million copies sold aand it still underperformed. Hom much did they spend in advertising? How much had they promised to the shareholders?

I think you guys are misinterpreting.

It didn't sell what they thought it would. That doesn't mean they didn't make money.

Yes, I know this game is still in the green, but how much money did they want to make with this to consider 9m sales ans a couple of months with lootboxes below expectations?

You know it deserves the GOTY.

Didn't Mass Effect: Andromeda cost about $50mil and take 4 years.

Star Wars: Battlefront 2 came out two years after the first title, using:
The same engine,
A similar art pipeline (probably improved so they can produce more, with less),
and likely reusing base assets and / or code.

60 USD times ten million units is 600 million USD in generated revenue (ignoring price cuts).
Add MTX to the mix.

Give me a minute...

Over a billion dollars (USD).

That is how much they wanted to make from the title.
We will have to wait and see, to find out how much they will make now.

While they didn't exactly meet their sales target, 9m people still bought into their game and supported their practices. SO 9m people think it's okay to support MT's out the wazoo and a large publisher that doesn't give a care for what we actually want in a game.

Mankind, in its arrogance and self-delusion, must believe they are the mirrors to God in both their image and their power. If something shatters that mirror, then it must be totally destroyed.

Hopefully enough states/countries start to regulate loot boxes that the practice becomes an impractical means to make extra money off of a game.

now it's underperform even more.

CPU: Ryzen 9950X3D
GPU: MSI 4090 SUPRIM X 24G
Motherboard: MSI MEG X670E GODLIKE
RAM: CORSAIR DOMINATOR PLATINUM 32GB DDR5
SSD: Kingston FURY Renegade 4TB
Gaming Console: PLAYSTATION 5 PRO

Consider the colossus fuck up that is BF2, they should be grateful to have shipped 9million.

Remember, the number is referring to shipped units, not sold-through.

Apparently, the numbers are wrong. EA expected BF2 to sell 8 million and the game shipped over 7 million:

"For Q3, we had expected to sell in about 8 million units, but we fell short of that by less than 1 million units. However, this shortfall was significantly offset by an excellent performance from our live services."

https://www.resetera.com/threads/correction-star-wars-battlefront-ii-sold-in-over-7-million-units-not-9.20104/

EA wanted 8m in sales, shipped 9m, ended up with 7m in sales (5m physical). So there's about 4m physical copies just sitting on the shelves right now. BF1 at this point sold 13m (11m physical).
