Just for curiosity: If you're going mini, why don't you get a short GPU as well? Both the 1050Ti and RX 560 have plenty models with that size.

I'm not sure if I have to. I have to measure again but I'm almost sure my case can take 212mm. It might even be able to take 300mm. I wouldn't go short if I didn't have to. But thanks for the reminder, gonna have to check that at home.

I don't know the exact model I have but it's basically this.

As you can see, there is plenty of room at the bottom, even for 320mm GPUs. Since I don't have additional 3.5" drives I can use all of that space.

Stuff is taking shape. For the Intel Build I'm gonna keep the case, the cooler and the 300W PSU. I decided the RAM. All that's missing right now is the GPU. I think I want to try out what AMD has to offer. And even though I don't care for my electricity bill at all I love the Zero Core feature Nvidia has for some reason not adopted yet. And since the PC will be running 24/7 and most of the time with turned off screens it seems practical.

I thought about something cute like the RX 560. Though I am kinda flirting with a 1050ti as well since the prices are quite similar and the 1050ti is better in all aspects. So it's definitely between those 2 right now.

For peripherals I don't really need anything right now because I already have a wireless keyboard and mouse I use on my couch and will be plugged into it anyway.

So the last thing after I decided for the GPU would be an external sound mixer.

Be careful, that mixer has 6.35mm inputs and outputs.
You may need adapters to get your current gear working with it.
Adapters cost next to nothing, but it is an extra step that will be need to be taken.

Hm... correct. Maybe I'll find something with 3.5mm then.

Will it work the way I described it here?

I've checked out the mixers and they're basically all mono. Won't that sound horrible? I'm pretty sure I need stereo, if not surround for gaming.

To me: it looks like that audio setup should work.

This has stereo input and output.
I cannot speak to its quality, that is something you will have to look up.
It looks like it will fit your use case nicely.

It too will require adapters, but again: they are pretty cheap.

That thing seems pretty cool, reviews seem to be satisfactory. Gonna order it right now because I can always use something like that. That it's completely passive is even more amazing.

Thanks for the great tip!

Hopefully it all goes well.

I plan to buy a mixer of some kind someday soon.
Reaching over my desk to re-plug my cables, every time I want to change my source, is a huge pain.

The best thing is I don't have to tunnel it through my PC again and fuck everything up in the process.

What's left now is that I have to flip a coin between an RX560 and a 1050ti and the build is finished. If I order this week I could have everything done as soon as next week. I like the Intel build, so I don't have much of a reason to wait for a potential AMD APU.

I am using a RX 460 or 560 in my Linux machine, because drivers and it didn't require a separate power plug.
The resulting system looks pretty neat, cable management wise.

In your case, the 1050Ti looks to be the better buy.

Well, it looks Nvidia won.

I can get all parts from one shop which is also the cheapest one for € 1.928,80.

Gonna order today.

Well, it's done. Ordered everything and all is in stock. So with any luck it should be here on Saturday latest.

With that we can continue to step 2.
