Forums - Gaming - How do the visuals on the Nintendo Switch compare to those of the Xbox 360 & PS3?

The Nintendo Switch hardware is...

A big leap over 7th gen 71 40.11%

A minor leap over 7th gen 72 40.68%

About the same as 7th gen 24 13.56%

Actually WORSE than last gen 10 5.65%

Total:177

So you're saying that nothing on Switch looks better than this?

I mean, it was pretty for the time, but I can list at least 10 games that look better on Switch. lol

Name me those ten. I can't even think of ten graphically impressive Switch games let alone 10 games better looking than God of War 3.

Hear hear.

Also, Dialgamarine, the PS3 would die if it tried to run BotW. No problem? Really? LOL

BOTW runs on Wii U so it would easily run on PS3. PS3 has a better CPU than Wii U and is more capable of handling physics than the Wii U and it has plenty of games that are more impressive in terms of physics.

The magical unlimited meme power of the cell cannot compensate for everything else. The 3DS had a slower CPU than the PSP yet it could do way more. The WiiU had a much much better GPU to boot. You would be talking about a totally different architecture and engine that would otherwise make the PS3 explode. I'm really not going to argue the facts here, the PS3 simply couldn't.

The magical unlimited meme power of the cell cannot do that. The CPU of the WiiU has the same if not more capable CPU, and a much much better GPU. More ram also. So you ignore developers themselves saying PS3 CPU was more capable. Also much better GPU, where did that come from, sure its better but not by a big margin at all. The real difference is in the RAM but PS3 has more impressive open world games with more going on so that shouldn't be an issue with BOTW.

I edited my comment, and corrected it.

What game? Please tell. Give an example of a PS3 game with about the same size as the world of BotW. Show me. Can't use Skyrim that's for sure.

Ram is the only thing that could be a stumbling block for BOTW on PS3, no the WiiU does not have a "much much better GPU", it is an improvement and has better shader support but it isn't worth even one "much".

No you don't have to argue the facts, nor do you have to get the facts right.

As far as the physics engine and the various assets and shaders and what have you, if you cut all that out, that would maybe do it. But like I said with doom, you would have to use a different engine and downscale everything. It would be beasically be a ground up build.

GTA 5 is bigger and you can create quite some mayhem in the counties with the framerate still being stable. Infamous 2 isn't as big but has destructible environments and scalable structures and can have intense combat sequences with lots of enemies using guns and ice attacks in a vertical cityscape and still runs at a stable 30fps.

True, but if we ignore compatibility issues with the engine and shaders and just look at it in terms of raw power, PS3 running BOTW with minor changes really isn't much of stretch at all, apart from memory limitations.

Though I'd best say now to avoid confusion, I'm not agreeing with GOWTLOZ that GoW3 is better looking than all Switch games.

GTA V is runs terrible on the PS3 and has bad visuals. Infamous 2 is way smaller and has less physics than BotW, also worse visuals imo, just look at the image. Both games simply do not have the same physics and could not run that engine in a playable state. Still waiting for a competent example.

Just look at those horrid grass textures in GTA 5 on PS3... No way the PS3 could run BotW with all its dynamic foliage.

Like I keep saying, it's not just that. You're talking about that engine, it simply could not be run on PS3 hardware. You're talking about what is essentially a new build/game that looks like BotW. Same as Doom 4. Id tech 6 can't be run on older systems. Not even mentioning the difference in architecture between those two platforms.
