I really hope they use better cardboard than they used in their drink coasters. My kid made quick work practically dissolving them in his mouth.

Nov 2016 - NES outsells PS1 (JP)
Don't Play Stationary 4 ever. Switch!
This will be the most sold toy next christmas in US and EU.
The only negative point for "core gamers": Will make it even harder to buy a Switch for Bayonetta3 and Metroid Prime4.
At the very least, this fills out the release schedule further, because there was nothing in April in between Kirby and DKC + Dark Souls before this announcement.
February: Bayonetta 1 & 2
March: Kirby Star Allies
April: Nintendo Labo
May: Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze and Dark Souls

Nintendo got inspiration form the cardboard Wii U controllers.
To be serious I really like the idea. I'm not going to get it myself, but I think this is a very interesting way to make video games more interactive for kids in a way more intelligent than "Waggle a stick!!" (I liked some of what the Wii's motion controls brought, but a lot of the integration was crude in games where buttons would be better)
I think a lot of people are acting a bit silly about this. Just because 1-2 Switch existed doesn't mean Mario Odyssey and Breath of the Wild didn't. This isn't replacing Metroid Prime 4, it's a supplement that serves a different purpose for those interested in it.

Your measurements are off. Looks like you're trying to repel vampires.

I think it’s interesting and very creative. It’s Nintendo combining its video game business to the heart and origins of who they are, a toy making company. Remember this is still Nintendo that made trading cards and toys before making video games and consoles. Like the NES Zapper, the Wii Wheel, the Super Scope, the Wii Zapper, the Wii Balance Board, and amiibo before it, Nintendo Labo seeks to provide a different way to interact with games and seems to focus on how kids like to built things and interact with the things they’ve built.
The price is alright considering there is software that allows that interaction with the various kits. I mean, there are LEGO sets that are just as, if not more, expensive than this. The conditioning of the cardboard is something we’ll have to wait and see on.
If you’re not interested and/or it’s not for you, that’s ok. It doesn’t have to be. That’s why Nintendo teased it would be for kids and kids-at-heart. There’s an audience out there that would be interested in this. There’s nothing wrong with that. Casual or not, this can lead to people buying Switch units for their kids for this and what not. We’re going antsy about this getting in the way of core games and I’m like, really? It’s an experiment and part of their business with the Switch. As shown in the past and even the present, gaming can be more than just “normal” controllers.
