Forums - Sales - Switch > XB1 > PS4 During December In US - Greenberg (Confirmed, read OP)

Sony had the better marketing, price point and deals, Since E3 2013 Either way you look at it, you dont need exclusive games if you market your product better than your oppositions. PS4 has outsold X1 when they were down on games and X1 has outsold PS4 when they were down on games. Strange world we live in, isnt it. Hard truth is they both have games and the war on sales will continue to be on how they are presented.

Switch has the tinest library out if the big 3 and its the best selling.

I can't point out much more obviousness < word i made up.

And exclusives play a part in Sony's marketing, so they are not fully independent variables. Same thing applies with deals because Sony sometimes bundles exclusive games with the PS4.

God damn the PS4 is in third?! O_O

Man this is gonna be the most interesting month for the NPD results in a long time to say the least.

The global switch number went from 10.9 to 11.2 I see some adjustments are being made. Was it allowed for him to say the ranking? Why has Nintendo said nothing ??

Switch was adjusted up and PS4 adjusted down in North America with the new information released by Greenberg.

Do you plan on making adjustments to Europe for Switch? It seems low now that we have data from France.

Yep. One single isolated month is proof versus the entire eighth generation of 4 + years. Nothing else matters. That's how it always worked.

Because of its exclusives. What also helped both the Switch and the X-Box One X was being the newer kids on the block.  Other than that, it has always been about the games. Always.

Edit: I might as well add that the Switch is more expensive and comparatively underpowered to the Xbox One. And the switch outsold the Xbox One. But the original Xbox One being underpowered and more expensive than the PS4 was out sold by the PS4. So there's an inconsistency here. But what is consistent between the Switch and the PS4 are the........ Exclusives.

Sony didnt try this month. I guess selling 20m units fo the year was more than enough for them.

Switch sells most was expected. That PS4 is only third is the big surprise.

Exclusives, can be bundled along with third parties, this creates mindshare by marketing these things. If they are cheap it causes more people to buy. People get exposed to exclusives and now tell their friends about it. More market share is created. New users go out an buy 1st or 3rd party bundles. These new PS4 users buy PS plus. Sony earns more money to fund 1st and 3rd exclusives/marketing deals. Cycle begins anew. It’s all part of a cycle. Miss out on one and you lose sales.

Yay! Go Switch!!!! January is going well for them so far.

Pocky Lover Boy!

I am not all that surprised honestly. MS has historically had great Decembers, and to top it off Sony didn't do much this December to stay competitive.

Probably. I wonder if they are going to go all out this year to beat it. We should at least be getting a holiday RDR2 bundle at $249, with a stand alone SKU at $199, that lasts longer than a week or two.
