For me, it's not enough that a 'game of the generation' is best/fun, there's another factor I look at: impact. In that arena, CoD 4 is without equal in the 7th gen.

GotG and GotY are two different things. Also, see my reply to Ka-pi96.

If you want to have your own definition go ahead

GotG is a very heavy title and TLoU does not qualify in my book to be GotG. GotY 2013, very likely. Possibly deserves it more than GTA 5.

Any award TLoU could have won would have been forfeited once they ruined the MP with greedy pay to win microtransactions. It Battlefronted before Battlefront.

Also, I had no idea GTA was the bes t selling game on PS3 and PS4. Insanity.

As I said, if you want to use your definition for GotG do it.

Azzanation: "PS5 wouldn't sold out at launch without scalpers."

Interesting find and an interesting situation. It prints so much money!

By your reasoning, just because I like the original "The Legend of Zelda" as much as I do and have repurchased and played it on several systems since, I should call it the Game of the Generation for Gens 3, 6, 7, & 8 since it was playable on NES, GameCube, Wii, & Wii U.  Your definition of Game of the Generation (which in another post called for Final Fantasy X to be labeled as "The Game of Three Generations") is so watered down that it marginalizes all of the big titles that are specifically developed for the consoles of the later gens.

By my reasoning?

You guys are old enough on VGC to have seem the threads about TLOU:R and it being claimed GoTG (Game of Two Generations).

And since FF X is one of the best FFs and games ever then that guy thinking it is the game of three generations is acceptable just that.

They are 4y old, would give some trouble to look after, but almost all TLOU:R threads at the time were heated and had the game of 2 gens monicker.
