"The Vita? What killed that was Nintendo & Sony. Lack of strong enough content from the latter while being a punching bag for the former. That is not an example of mobile gaming killing handhelds. " - That takes care of the Vita. The 3DS? Well, Nintendo had a rocky start with the device (from their own mistakes - often what "kills" devices in this industry), opting to drop the price and get things going later on. Since then, it has taken off, despite not being the success story that the DS was. However, they've just added another handheld device to the mix. If mobile is killing handhelds, the Switch should not being doing as good as it is, particularly in Japan. So without some concrete evidence, you can't blame the 3DS's lower sales on mobile gaming killing that sector of the market. Now speaking of "reasons", where are those, "examples you gave me"? |
sorry i don't buy those excuses, there ridiculous. you just don't go from 240 million to 84 million, because a few mistakes.

except 360 took it's sales. where did the 150 million ds and vita buyers go? ps3 mistakes which were much much bigger then 3ds, and even vita, really hurt it because of 360.

So, apparently, in your fantasy world, customers are forced at gunpoint into buying at least one console per generation, even if none of them are appealing. Logic.
Also, did you really just say that PS3 had more problems than Vita? Wow. Talk about grasping at straws.

So if handheld sales went from 80 something to 235 back to 80 something, is that dying or reverting back to previous baseline?

no. the 360 and ps3 where called hd twins for a reason, they had mostly the same games, but one was cheaper, better controller, and ran games better, so of course people would tend to pick up 360 instead of ps3, especially early on.
umm yea all sony had to do was release the ps3 at 399$, and they would have won that genration easy. not to mention releasing ps3 very late in europe, losing way more sales to 360 for the holidays, and it's strongest region.

its not really a fair comparison, game boy advance released 2001, ds, and psp 2004. advance only had 3 years before next generation handhelds came out.

But Gameboy having 12 years was a fair comprison?

Hahaha, what? You just destroyed your own argument!
Your previous post: PS3 had much worse problems than Vita and 3DS.
This post: PS3's only problem was that it was too expensive.
