I'm glad to see Shadow of the Colossus continuing to do well on the chart.

If I were to make a guess about purchases with them, it would likely be people picking up the digital copy of "Monster Hunter" as well as picking up a game or two with the sale going on the PlayStation store. Like "The Last Guardian" and "Persona 5". These games are just too amazing pass up. |
Don't forget pre ordering gow.

It did very good in November/December though. I'm hopeful myself that this year will be up yoy. Jan-oct last year was horrible for Xbox. If I recall the only big releases in that time for Xbox was halo wars 2 forza 7, (wouldn't call cuphead a big release). This year the games in that window are much much better. Plus pubg just came out halfway through December, and that could help a bit.
as far as pricing goes I expect a official pricecut for the s and x. 199$ for the 500gbs and probably 449 for the x no later than may. 500$ is just way too much.
So again it's possible that Xbox one has peaked and it's just going to drop every year till it's done, but I'm hopeful that Xbox will be up YOY for most of Jan-October. I don't expect this coming holiday to top last years though. |
It had pubg last year as a console exclusive. What does it have this year? Can't think of anything big that will move hardware..

Ya I know, 3 million players in December. Another million in jan by the 12th. I think it will help push Xbox more in 2018 than it did for it in 2017. Especially with the bundle coming. |
Its selling very well thats for sure but is it moving consoles or selling primarily to existing XBO owners?
XBO was down YoY in Dec despite being $199 all month, XBO X 2nd month & PUBG releasing and selling 3 million. On top of that, nothing really suggests its having a massive January.
PUBG is going to continue to be a huge hit in terms of software sales but nothing leads me to believe its pushing XBO.

I think it probably helped move some units. Will be interesting to see how Xbox sells the first few months of the year since PUBG is out. I think its going to be up yoy for most of the year.

Sure it has moved some but i dont think its significant enough to call it a system seller.

Agreed. I think it will be a talking point for the machine for the whole year, but I don't expect a huge turnaround for sales because of it. |
Best case scenario is that it moves just enough to prevent big YOY drops, same goes for official price cuts to $199 & $399 for S & X models.
I think those things will help XBO continue to sell in the 8-8.5 million range that it has done for the last 4 years. I don't see a massive drop or massive gain this year.

I'd be very happy with another 8-8.5 million for 2018.
Halo MCC will sell 5+ million copies(including digital)
halo 5 will sell 10 million copies(including digital)
x1 will pass ps4 in USA, and UK.
