ps4 is at 76 million shipped, its been selling great for years now, nothing to worry about. switch on the other hand is a very unknown, it could easily lose momentum like 3ds.

The same could have been said after the Wii's 4th year, where id did 17M and started to slow down - massively!

Now imagine the PS4 following a similar way after it's 4th year, which just ended. If it did, it could end up not even beating the Wii.

While I doubt this is going to happen, seeing the PS4 trailing in sales behind a console that's out of stock is a sign for me for a certain slowdown, especially considering the releases of MHW and DBFZ today, both acclaimed by fans and press, which should bolster the sales significantly, yet it's not nearly as high as it should be

Out of stock? The Grey Switch is in stock. The Neon is out of stock and has dropped below the PS4. Quickrick already addressed the legs part. Though, I would like to add that the PS4 hasn't even hit $199, yet. And it will probably hit $149 around the time the PS5 hits.

Grey was out of stock when I posted about 2 hours ago or at least it was marked out of stock.

Yesterday when I posed the question both where out of stock and still in front of the PS4. And the gray one only has one unit left right now

What guarantee do you guys have that the PS4 will be that leggy? Yes, previous gens where leggy - but did you ever ask yourself why they did so?

PS1 became interesting in hotels and third world countries at the end of it's lifespan as a consumer product in the more developed countries, PS2 got boosted again after the massive failure the PS3 was at launch (sales went up over 30% yoy after the 599$ price reveal) and because of Singstar (the Just Dance of it's time), to some degree also because of it's DVD player capabilities (but barely anymore after 2006), PS3 because it was a very long gen which only really sped up when the Wii started to get weaker.

None of all this is even remotely happening right now with the PS4. I'm not saying it can't be leggy, I'm just pointing out that it doesn't have the same favorable circumstances in it's favor as it's predecessors do. And that it's doing too bad right now on Amazon Japan compared to where it should be if the momentum would still be so high, especially with 2 big game releases.

I think what's different and favorable for PS4 is that it's not a portable like Switch; it is seen as THE home console, and the X1X did little to impact that. Furthermore, unlike last gen, PS took NA and trounced XBox: they have the install base and community to leverage into brand awareness. Lastly, it has PSVR, which has become the predominant VR gaming device. With the amount of money being poured into that sector, their brand stands to benefit the most from a VR boom.

They all represent unique situations, but PS looks much better-positioned this gen than last.

Both Switch Models are out of Stock with the Neon set not having a release date. How are we back to stock issues in such a quiet month?

What stock issue?
