Forums - Sales Discussion - Amazon U.S. January bestsellers and general Amazon-based discussion

I wouldn't worry. Especially at this time of year. This is when most people who could afford the console won't have enoughoney to just splash out. It will start rising next month and into March again. Once we get a Direct if we do next month anyway, that should help. As it stand right now though, it's doing fine.

If the Switch is experiencing shortages, then it's either doing well or not enough are being shipped.

ANDY MURRAY:- GRAND SLAM WINNER!

In my opinion the N64 was not just the best console of the 5th gen but, to this day the best console ever created!

I am a bit sad that FighterZ gets so overshadowed by MHW.

Also now that i have seen a few hours of Sea of Thieves gameplay i think it will not have any legs.
The concept is really fun but damn that game lacks content.

Was thinking the same thing when playing the beta buts look into it and there are lots of things they didn't include in the beta.

Sea of Thieves in the top 10 now for both digital and physical, nice.

So is anyone else concerned for the Switch right about now? I attributed to drop in positions in the charts to the system being sold out, but now the grey one has been back in stock and its standing is not really improving. Moreover, the top selling Switch SKU is far below both the top selling PS4 SKU and Xbox SKU at GameStop (https://www.gamestop.com/browse?nav=2b84,28-xu0,134f). At this point I am not so sure the Switch could pull off an NPD win for January (and more importantly, I do wonder about its overall momentum).

It was expected IMO. Nintendo drought has begun. All their big games have being released last year and just before the holidays.

It's going to sell better when others big games will be released like Pokemon and the Mario and Zelda sequels. People buy Nintendo consoles to play Nintendo games.

Every system is going to have dips here and there in demand. Usually is remedied by game releases, word of mouth, and the usual game industry bumps. I wouldn’t worry, even if it stayed that way for a few months. It will most likely correct itself. Sure, it could use another killer app right now. I was hoping morphies law would be that, but the Switch has a lot going for it.

Its a combination of shortages and the fact that the Neon/Cyan one seems to be the preferred model so atimes even when the Grey version is in stock, it seems many people hold out for the other SKU.

You worry too much

The gray system is not as popular as the Neon one, so many wait for the latter to come back. In the meanwhile the gray one is slowly rising in the charts again.

I'd acually be more concerned over the PS4. Monster Hunter World and Dragonball Figher Z are about to be released and it's still trailing behind both Switch models? Shouldn't it be much higher with such anticipated releases?

Yeah that was a rash thing to say over a days worth of Amazon data.

About the PS4, Monster Hunter will never push many systems in the US. On the other hand, God of War will.
