There's so much misinformation in this thread. You don't have to play a single repeated mission. I'm not sure of the exact progressing conditions, but they most certainly do not involve playing a single repeated mission. Presenting them in the mission list as story missions is very misleading, but you don't have to play any of them. So yeah, you uninstalled the game for no reason.

This is partially true as well. You can farm Side Ops - whatever the ones you want - to fill some arbitrary quota the game never specifies and you'll also pop up direct story missions that don't involve playing those other repeating story missions.

Since you can't really tell how much progression you've made, you can either do repetitive Side Ops or play those extra difficult replay main story missions. Your choice. Sometimes you'll end up doing both, since the main story missions will for some ungodly reason refuse to unlock due to the arbitrary quota.

There's also key Side Ops that will pop up from time to time. You need to do these as well.

Ah, so that's the progression condition. I knew you have to play something, just not what exactly. Well, I knew about key Side Ops, but that's it. I do think playing random side ops is more interesting than replaying old story missions though.

I recall in some Steam forum that someone said farming trips to the Mother Base also fills the quota, but honestly not even walkthroughs have any clue about this. I think it could just be playing the game itself, regardless of what you're doing.

All you have to do is side quests. Once you start knocking them out more story missions unlock in chapter 2

Mission 46 is the "last" mission in the story. You have to endure these repeated missions in higher difficulties because after Chapter 1 the game takes a huge hit in quality and starts padding the fuck out of everything.

So no, you're not done yet, but don't expect much from now on, really.

Is there a way to not do the repeat missions? Holy fuck is this annoying.

Blame Konami for that.

Were ALL Chapter 2 missions repeats? I thought some were new?
I didn't mind doing them though. The ones that start you off with 0 weapons challenged you to approach missions in a more strategic way. And the gameplay was fun for me pretty much all the way through. It was the story that didn't click with me.

I actually dont remember doing repeat missions to be honest. It was all story and sidequests. lots of fun and I really enjoyed the story even in chapter 2. So dunno what OP is doing but he should just keep on

Yeah, unfortunely MGS V is really dissapointing.Like Wright said, you need to play through repeated missions, only to be rewarded with a dissapointing and unfinished story.I highly recommend you simply watch the rest of the story on youtube, if you dont have the patience to go through that.

My (locked) thread about how difficulty should be a decision for the developers, not the gamers.

Stop spreading lies/misinformations. You do not need to play through repeated missions.

There weren't too many new story missions in Chapter 2, but I think there were some. And I kind of agree - those repeated missions can be nice challenges. I would have hated having to play them to progress in story though.

Like I said, you don't need to play the repeated mission. I played between 0 and 2 repeated missions, which is definitely not all of them - and I'm pretty sure I didn't need to play any repeated mission at all. I know from experience that you don't need to play through them. Stop spreading misinformation.

Fine you dont. All you have to do then is play a shitton of side missions, which get old PRETTY quickly.Believe me, I have beaten the game, and the game pads the hell out on its progression.

Anyways, it shouldnt need to be said that what I wrote is my opinion about the game, and thus it dosent make it into a lie or a misinformation. But I should say that this game was a big dissapointment, and Im far from being the only one who thinks that.
