Two field themes, a town theme, and a situational battle theme.

That first field theme seemed a little too over the top for, well, a field theme... not saying it's a bad song, but I think it'd fit better somewhere else. Second field theme is great, LOVE the town theme, reminds me of something from Runescape (And I LOVE the music in Runescape, lol), the battle theme actually surprised me, at first I thought it seemed a little too calm, but then it kicks in, and yeah... I'm sold on it, totally dig it! :o

Are you sure? Skyrim has some Lord of the Rings-esque music.  Very engaging. Its good to hear that it has a good soundtrack though.

What chapter now? In Xenoblade 1, you need to play at least 45 hours to see the minor plot twist and when you are in 80% of the game, you will get the major one

It seems you're interested in both games, so I'd say Xenoblade. Skyrims price is going to decrease for sure.
