ps4 will win December as well, i'm calling it now. just look at COD it sold 4.4 million physical only, and mario out sold it in amazon. do the math.

Games have never been an accurate measure on amazon. Consoles yes but not games. Plus thats a bit unfair comparing a multiplat franchise to a exclusive on a single platform. Of course a multiplat on a combined user base of roughly 35-37 million is gonna outsell a exclusive game on a platform of user base around 2-4 million.

Plus nintendo is known historically to sell far better in December than November.

Never use amazon to judge the success for a game.  That's why I cringe when I see people putting so much weight game chart position s

I know that. I told quick amazon isn’t a good indicator for a games success. He seems to think amazon is. Lol

I was just fortifying your point.

I don't get why people are comparing Switches first November to PS4's when considering that X1 significantly beat out the PS4 and clearly hasn't meant much in the long run. It could go either way for the Switch. It's going to do well and will continue to win NPD's in future, how many is unknown. But it won't beat PS4, that's just silly.

Why wouldn't they? Would Disneyland ever get rid of Mickey Mouse?

Well they kind of have... I mean when's the last time you saw a Mickey Mouse movie? He's not really an active character anymore.

Is Mickey Mouse still around? And come on, Disney creates a lot of properties every year.

lol...that's isn't what I meant...DisneyLAND does not make movies. I was referring to the amusement park, there is still Mickey everywhere you go inside the park. It's the character the park is synonymous with even in 2017. Same with Nintendo. Mario, Zelda, Pokemon etc; are synonymous with the Nintendo brand. Why would they ever abandon that?

Any guess on why is Switch too low? Lose steam? Low demand? No stock?

No deals on Black Friday ...

Stock was fine. I think it’s just a case of that number being how much it can sell at that price in a November. If they wanted to sell more, then they needed to drop the price.

Lack of Black Friday deals.  Think about it, why would you run out of your home to buy an item that day when you could just get it any other day for the same price?

Technically they have....

Before this November i was singing no stock from the rooftops. Now I am not so sure because they didn't have a stock problem.

Thanks guys.

I guess it's not a bad number, but pales in comparision with the other 2.

Wii+? By how much?

I expect Switch to outsell the Wii in ltd. That's all I'm saying. Right now my range is between 100 million to 150 million. The only reason I have such a huge range is because I'm not sure 100% what Nintendo is going to do. However Wii numbers should be the floor. DS numbers should be the ceiling.

I'd curb those expectations.  Not that 100M+ is impossible, it's just HIGHLY unlikely.  The Switch has done well this year, however, I don't see it quite matching the 3DS's first year of 15M+ shipments.  I also think it's going to follow a similar trajectory as the 3DS, having a great first 3 years, with the 3rd being its peak if they can get the price to $199 (Nvidia isn't exactly known for wanting to drop the price of their chips unless they have to, hence MS and Sony leaving them), and then it starts to drop YOY.  I'd say 50M is more the floor, with 100M being the ceiling.  Personally, I expect it to perform on par with the 3DS in the end.

The reason it is compared is because some people think the Switch will be able to beat it.  So far, it's behind launches aligned.  Also, one of the main reasons the XBO beat the PS4 that year was because the PS4 had stock issues.  The Switch did not.  So, the gap would have been much larger if the PS4 didn't have those issues.  It really just paints a picture of the Switch doing well, just not matching the PS4.

No, no stock issues.  Online sold out on certain stores, but physical retail had plenty.  Though, I wouldn't say it's losing steam.  This is just what the demand is for a $299 Switch.  If they can get it to $199 in 2019, it's going to have a great year.

I dont recall PS4 having stock issues in Nov 2014, I tried looking it up and all i could find were articles about shortages in Europe up through June 2014.

When the herd loses its way, the shepard must kill the bull that leads them astray.

Just goes to show how big Black Friday is that Nintendo is so far behind despite winning the last couple months.

As an aside, two years of marketing and the launch of a new console couldn't make XBox match a discounted PS4 in its strongest territory. Can't see this going well once the launch hype is totally dead

I dont really think MS strategy with XBX is to "win". If its goal was to regain marketshare than they wouldnt have priced it $100 more than the PS4 Pro.

At this point, I believe they are more focused on maximizing profit by increasing revenue per user and getting early adopters to upgrade to X rather than beating PS4.
