Forums - Nintendo - Bayonetta 3 announced exclusively for Switch!

Let's not forget that Platinum straight up said that Bayonetta 2 "would not exist without Nintendo".

It's not like the game was going to come out on Playstation/Xbox until evil Nintendo stepped in and stole it. It was a choice between Bayonetta 2 on Nintendo or no Bayonetta 2 at all. Thankfully, the former happened, and the result was a great game.

It's probable that Bayonetta 3 is likewise being funded by Nintendo and might never have existed otherwise.

Monster Hunter has only been popular on handhelds and by releasing it on the PS4 and XBONE Capcom are ignoring the majority of the Japanese gamers.

HW power doesn't determine how good a game is anyway. Breath of the Wild is game of the year for a reason. It has one of the most interactive open worlds ever created in a video game.

MHW is the first proper test to a home console MH. Wii was a joke for third parties outside games designed for casuals, which is why Tri didn't do well on it.

From where did u get the idea that Capcom are ignoring Nintendo gamers? They've been constantly bringing one MH game after the other exclusively on Nintendo platforms even while developing MHW...All developers move on at some point from underpowered old platforms or else we would still be stuck with PS2 given the install base disparity between it and a new born PS3.

And stay in Japan, Capcom really care about gamers in the West because it perhaps is too violent to them, keep children safe

Salty Bayonetta fans should direct their frustration on Sega... not Platinum Games, not Nintendo. But I doubt Bayonetta 3 wouldn't exist when NieR Automata is selling so well and Valkyria Chronicles is making a comeback...

Sega has a long history of idiotic and nonsensical decisions, but they retain the right to control their IPs. I don't find them evil.. they're probably just stupid.

It's all down to the publisher, since Platinum's games are funded by others; such as Square Enix in the case of Nier. Sega didn't want to stick their neck out on Bayo 2, so Nintendo stepped in and footed the bill in exchange for exclusivity. Granted, we don't know what the situation was regarding Bayo 3, so we can only make educated guesses at the moment. But the series doesn't have a great track record as a moneymaker, so it may not seem an appealing investment to a third party publisher. To a first party looking for an exclusive to diversify their library and earn critical acclaim, however...

Bayonetta 3 would not exist if Bayonetta 2 didn't exist. And I don't mean that by the numbering, I mean that by if Bayonetta 2 didn't exist, there is no way that Sega would decide to make a sequel that didn't sell that well of a 10 year old game. Platinum would find no publisher today wnating to make a sequel for a game that released in 2009.

Bayonetta 1 released in 2009. It didn't sell well. Nier selling well would just mean a sequel to Nier, not making a sequel to a 10 year old game.

Bayonetta even being a franchise people know right now is due to 2 and her inclusion in Smash. NieR selling well just lets Sega/Nintendo/Platinum or whoever is pulling strings know that the genre has potential.

Is Bayonetta gonna light the charts on fire? No, probably not. But it's what I would call a calculated expense on Nintendo's part. They make make some money, break even or lose some money on it. Either way I think they are fine. Obviously they woudl want it to be a huge hit, but regardless of its sales its a game type that applies to a different demographic than their own games. It makes their library look more complete to draw more consumers. Nintendo knows it will make a killing on their core games, Mario, Zelda, ect. Bayonetta is not there to make them a billion dollars.

Sega has nothing to do with Nier.

I prefer her look in Bayonetta 2.

So do I. Can't stand that giant hat design.

No they dont, Multiplats are selling way more on PS4 than on PC. Most PC gamers are playing different games like MMOs or MOBAS if we look at a global scale. Everyone has a PC, i have a PC and i still game on it, doesnt make me a PC gamer or anybody else who plays certain games on it.

Bayonetta 1 on PS3 outsold the Xbox 360 version despite performing alot worse on PS3, and it also sold more than Bayonetta 2 on the Wii U

Doesn't change that Ryuzaki implied that the third party exclusives should all go the platform with the highest install base.  He didn't say anything like they would sell better on that platform, just that they should just be on the platform with the highest potential reach. And you can bend it every which way you like, that would be PC, not any console.

I still disagree, not with your point youre trying to make just the facts. Owning a PC capable to game doesnt equal a PC gamer who buys all his multiplats on PC.

That's because the 360 had a much smaller install base in Japan than the PS3, so even with technical issues it had an upper hand. Also, the Switch has been doing well, so it's not like the Wii U where it's coming out on a dead console.

Thats not true even if you remove the PS3 numbers in Japan PS3 still has higher sales for Bayonetta 1

well well well.. that´s really good news!
Now, Nintendo.... what about helping Platinum finish Scalebound too?

That was an unexpected surprise. I guess Nintendo was happy with Bayonetta 2.

Possibly.  And if they aren't, the Switch port will make them happy, as all the games will sell well there.
