Given the major brand expansion we're seeing from Nintendo (cereal, theme parks, a Mario movie, and a Detective Pikachu movie), I think Nintendo will be fine...

They're legitimate opinions.
And then they're trolling/flame bait postings.
Take your pick.
well.. the switch is my first nintendo console. I like the hardware, and it's getting more attention than my PS4, but not more than my PS3, nor my PC, which has a GTX 1080 Ti.
Mine was discounted over 100 dollars and I'm quite enjoying it for the price i paid.
I think it'll do fine. I dont see myself using the portable aspect so much, but I'm sure there are plenty of people out there who would. I've gotten myself ascreen protector, some dual joy con charging grips, and a single 3D printed joy con grip, and a dock sock. I'm trying to keep the thing safe.
I'm not getting multiplats on PS4, for obvious reasons. However, now I'm considering some for switch just for the sake of portability. However, I didn't get a switch expecting to play multiplats. So, I bought my first ever zelda and mario games. Also got bomberman, which I've been able to play before on sega genesis and PS3. However, I don't know if i can go back to those older games now, when this one is better.

Absolutely, OP! As the year comes to an end, we are seeing the first cracks in the Switch "miracle" : rushed ports, handheld mode not keeping up, 3rd party sales not taking off, dubious or carefree publishers, little announcements for next year... If the January Direct doesn't meet (great) expectations, the sales momentum will be broken alongside the fans' dream of reconquista. |
I like your optimism. It's almost as if you want the Switch to fail.
I WON A BET AGAINST AZUREN! WOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

It's your logic I'd have to question if you think the Wii wasn't a fad. It clearly was. I don't get why some people think that's an insult or are offended by it or whatever. Being a fad doesn't even mean it can't still be popular afterwards. Pokemon was a fad, yet is still one of the biggest gaming franchises today, even if it's nowhere near as popular as it was when it was at its peak (the years when it was a fad). |
No the whole point of a fad is they don't last long and the popularity is short lived. Beanie Babies were a fad. Tickle Me Elmo was a fad. Fads quickly rise in popularituy and quickly die out. Wii lasted a full Nintendo cycle and sold over 100 million units. Wii like PS2 to a lesser extent still got a new game release in 2017 with Just Dance. That means there was still enough of an audience for that game.

You do realize Pokémon is also a fad that is going to fade away very quickly, right? |
It's been around for over 20 years. I don't think it's fading out anytime soon.
