Yes, it has gotten to this point; an entire thread on one job listing Retro Studios just posted, because it raises some questions and answers at least one detail about their upcoming game(s).

1) It is our first CONFIRMED detail about upcoming Retro game(s); there IS an environment!

2) If they are looking for someone this means either a) someone quit in the middle of work or B) They are THAT far behind in development or C) They are starting to work on the NEXT project, indicating their current game is almost a green light (this is what I think is most likely and I'm hopeful for).

Let's speculate people!

You have no idea how happy I'd be with that. I have such fond memories of that game. The local multiplayer was amazing!

This most likely means they are done with their current project, which gets me very excited as Retro is definitely my favorite studio working today! They have yet to release a game that's not great at the very least.

I make game analyses on youtube:

True! The last game they made, Tropical Freeze, was amazing for what it was trying to be! Beautiful soundtrack, art work, and level design!

They had a listing not to long ago as well, really interested to see what they have been up to for the past few years

Tropical freeze might be my favorite 2D platformer. The level design in that game is pushed to the very limit and the variety of mechanics is amazing!

i remember when dck returns was announced and I ignored it for two or three years before giving it a chance and absolutely loving it. It taught me to never doubt Retro's level design

Retro studios is the new Metroid. We'll go five years without a game and be like "Retro Studios needs a reboot"

Agreed! Though I think I played DKCR after Tropical Freeze (if I recall) and that was NOT the right order to play those games in lol
