Forums - Sales - Opinion: Sony should extend the Black Friday deals and add to them

I would like it. But I don't think they have the stock for it.

Sony doesn’t lower price. Retailers who bought units lower the price and lose money in process. They do this in hopes that increased foot traffic will create a profit.

When Sony do announce the price down they are agreeing with retailers to drop the price and alleviate the cost for retailers.

Well, yeah THIS

Well Leo-J why not keep black friday prices for like a year?

Well they need to produce more PS4 if they want to reduce the price to 199 for the base SKU during the whole December month. Currently those base models are mostly sold out everywhere.

They'd probably reduce the Battlefront and COD bundle to $250 for the rest of the year. It'll probably be enough for them to be sold out, again.

You know they had planned to sell less this year than in 2016. They have to stick to their plan. Even if their plan was bad and they could have sold millions more.

A plan is a plan.

If they're selling out so fast, why would they lower the price? They would lose money?

Its selling out because of the price.

To OP's point, I would say maybe. A lot of others have pointed out that Sony could be losing money on the systems sold, and that may be fine for the Black Friday season. Now, Sony makes a lot of money from PSPlus, so more systems do mean more of those. So as long as the loss from the price cut would be less than the gain from those buyers getting PSPlus, then it would be a good idea. This is a big IF since not everyone will buy that. There is also software royalties as well which is how Sony always made their money. So I guess there is an argument you could make for it, but it may not be the best idea. We don't know the exact manufacturing cost, so its hard to tell where that sweet spot would be.
