So a system that is well on its way to outsell the snes isn't successful? Okkaayyy......

They don't need to beat PS to be successful, you know...

Unfortunately many on this site dont understand this.

The way they think is if its not number in there imaginary world than its a failed product.

My question is:

If Xbox cease to exist tomorrow, what will be the legacy of Xbox? How did they contributed to the industry? In which way they pushed the industry forward?

https://youtu.be/zbuTfEQflI0

My list would be

-Built in HDD (Xbox)

-Achievements/trophies (Xbox 360)

-online profile (Xbox 360)

-Streaming video on consoles (Xbox 360)

-Downloadable game library (Xbox 360)

-cloud storage (Xbox 360)

-Broadband gaming (Xbox)

I'm sure some (if not most) of these were on PC, though. I'm not a PC gamer so I don't know.

Let us assume that all these things were introduced by the Xbox brand, what one can take away from this is the fact that the Xbox One has failed to bring anything new to gaming or the legacy of Xbox.

Focusing on PC would be the best thing for Microsoft at this point. It just seems like they are saving face at this point.

“It appeared that there had even been demonstrations to thank Big Brother for raising the chocolate ration to twenty grams a week. And only yesterday, he reflected, it had been announced that the ration was to be reduced to twenty grams a week. Was it possible that they could swallow that, after only twenty-four hours? Yes, they swallowed it.”

PS4 didn’t bring anything new to gaming as well if you talk about something revolutionary. It’s just another console which plays some games with better graphics than PS3.

They do when console and game production costs are much higher now than they were for a 16-bit console back in 1991.

I would argue that the PlayStation 4 is the first home console to properly implement VR.

Wish they would make something worthwhile after 4 years, especially seeing how quickly the Switch has asserted itself as the next thing to have.
Their major problem this gen is that they've been uninteresting

Equal focus. MS clearly prefers PC due to Windows near-monopoly on it, but online service fees and royalties given by high attach rate make consoles an attractive business even with modest HW sales, only a total flop HW must be avoided.

From the top of my head: Share Button/Feature, Share Play and PS Now are pretty revolutionary imo.

Share Play and PS Now are not that popular, but the idea itself is great.

Don't forget VR and the touchpad and speaker on the controller, precise controller motion tracking.

Account sharing is great too...I love I can share all my games with my brother.
