Forums - Gaming - EA won't charge for weapons in Battlefield: Bad Company

EA has come to their senses (thanks in no small part to the outcry from gamers) and won't be charging for weapons in Battlefield: Bad Company.  It was pretty ridiculous to charge to unlock weapons in a game, or to unlock any content that is already on the game disc.

Ah good, I was about to post that. EA with their DLC is really creeping me out.

"Here's the game, but you have to give us more money to use what's on it.... Have fun. "

You know, to get these weapons, you still have to participate in mandatory "market research", right? 1 for each weapon, and you need to get to level 25 on normal edition or buy the gold edition to be eligible to participate in said "market research".

I am a PC gamer, and also have a NDS now, but without access to a Nintendo Wii until End of 2007.

Currently playing: Super Smash Brothers Brawl(Wii), Mystery Dungeon: Shiren the Wanderer(DS), Dragon Quest Heroes: Rocket Slime (DS), WiiFit(Wii)

Games Recently Beaten: Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: My Life as a King (Normal; Very Hard after the next DLCs become available)

Sigh can we just stop buying EA games and do the whole industry a favor? I'm bad for buying Battlefield games and Madden (even though I HATE Madden I just can't resist the roster update) but I still avoid impulse purchases on all EA products. Maybe if we all did our part..

Ok I did my part, I bought No More Heroes, but they were out of Zach and Wiki.

Ok got Zach and Wiki, now if I could just finally finish Twilight Princess so I can play all these Wii games I got waiting. And no I won't buy Okami.

DNF, now there is a game that should have been scrapped completely. Reminds me of a kid whose been in school for 12 years and still doesn't know what he wants to do. At one point you just need to man up and get a job.

+1 for EA, they might get back into the positive eventually =)

Seriously though, I won't be buying the game and I am genuinely happy about this anyways. Its a positive thing for all gamers and I'm actually proud that our outcry is what stopped it from happening. Somebody has to keep these bastards from these Nickel/Dime business plans and in this case it was made 10x worse by the ridiculousness of what they were selling (ie game balance).

Finally ... it was an extremly stupid idea :?

Vote the Mayor for Mayor!

EA caved into gamer's outcry... this time.

Will they learn their lesson? Hell no.

Will they try it again? Absolutely

So... what's the point of all this? nothing at all.
