Been seeing comments on YT and elsewhere: It seems that 84-85 as a score means a game is shit now. Let's remember that when the next Sony/Xbox game get a similar score.

Different people have different opinions. Theres people who dislike anything and everything.

The fault doesn't lye with them, but with you for trying to group every opinion into one.

You should see some comments on this site about Xenoblade X. A game that has the same exact score (as of now) from both sites. It is silly, and welcome to the party.

Well, I am of the opinion that XC 2 looks and feels better than X, and thus should get a higher score.I wont say for certain simply because I havent played the game yet, but if it anything like the first XC, then I will like it more.

No need to trash on X. They are all good games, but i do prefer Xenoblade X in many ways. Especially the style, the setting and skells ofc. They add a whole new layer to the game. But i like both styles. I actually like the idea of them beeing separate series.

Xenoblade 2 is shit because it scored 84 is a great opinion.

Pffff....It already happened with The Last Guardian when it was moving between 83-84...

People have high expectations from respected developers like Team ICO and Monolith. So anything lower than 85 comes off as a disappointment. Trolls who had no interest in the games, especially those who belong to the rival console fanbase, will take the opportunity to criticize the game to rile up the fans.

You act like this never happened before lol.

I said the same thing about The Last Guardian when people were saying it was shit because someone said the controls were like that from a PS3 game, whatever that means. But this is a Xenoblade review thread, and it's come to a point for me that this is the game that has to played now.

This thread is about Xenoblade, but you're the one that brought non-nintendo things into it with "Let's remember that when the next Sony/Xbox game get a similar score." so you can't really fault people for giving you examples of this happening to those two companies already and thus maybe it would be best for you to end the cycle of stupid fan BS which did not seem to be your original intention.

...

I would like to know where these comments are OTBWY, because I think you might be misinterpreting them pretty badly.

What I see on a lot of the more critical reviews is stuff like "7/10 too much land", or "WOW DIS GUYYYY AIN'T EVEN JRPG FAN 8/10 RELY??!??!?!?!" or stuff like that.

It's the kind of comments that hyperbolically exaggerate reactions in order to criticize a reviewer for giving a game a lower score than they wanted, not making fun of the game or insinuating the score makes it bad.  So maybe it's just a happy misunderstanding? Or Maybe these people do exist though.

It doesn't have anything to do with reviewers, I even joked about it with "6/10 too much anime". Reviewers can say what they want. It's their assessment of the game. It came from certain individuals from a certain fanbase and I admittedly got pissed off. Maybe I shouldn't have.

I can't really show you specific comments since it's partly 4chan (thread expire), Youtube (get lost in a sea of comments). I can link you some of the YT videos in PM if you want.

I'm not gonna talk about it anymore. I shouldn't have brought it up. Frustration got the best of me.

So because of your opinion it deserves a higher score? Sounds fair.

I'm extremely uncomfortable with just how easily "too Japanese" or "more Japanese than the other" are being thrown around, as if to be Japanese is to carry a negative connotation, or as if the more specific criticisms people want to address are somehow intrinsic to Japanese culture. A lot of unknowingly racist statements are being thrown around as if it's acceptable. Replace the word "Japanese" with "black," and join me in my discomfort.

I don't think this is about being "too japanese". I love anime, manga and japanese stuff, but the problem here is that the character design sucks. When reviewers say that it's "too japanese" they probably mean "bad quality, generic anime". I think that anyone slightly knowledgeable about animation and character design will tell you that xc2 characters are awful.

Btw, I'm sure this has been mentioned already, but Persona 5 is "very japanese" and it still got amazing scores.

I am of the opinion that XCX was the most overrated game of the last generation. And I'm a big fan of XC on Wii. I still don't get how they managed to take everything that made XC so good and throw it away while exacerbating the very few negative things. The only good thing in XCX was Mira imho.

And I am of the mind that Xenoblade X is maybe the most criminally underrated games of all time, and expanded exponentially on what made the Xenoblade series so great with exploration and customization both in appearance and in game mechanics. It's easily the most experimental (for all its faults, which it does have as with all games) to a degree few if any devs will ever have the guts to attempt let alone pull off in a single $60 package of multiple hundred hour bliss.
