I'm extremely uncomfortable with just how easily "too Japanese" or "more Japanese than the other" are being thrown around, as if to be Japanese is to carry a negative connotation, or as if the more specific criticisms people want to address are somehow intrinsic to Japanese culture. A lot of unknowingly racist statements are being thrown around as if it's acceptable. Replace the word "Japanese" with "black," and join me in my discomfort.

I don't think this is about being "too japanese". I love anime, manga and japanese stuff, but the problem here is that the character design sucks. When reviewers say that it's "too japanese" they probably mean "bad quality, generic anime". I think that anyone slightly knowledgeable about animation and character design will tell you that xc2 characters are awful.

Btw, I'm sure this has been mentioned already, but Persona 5 is "very japanese" and it still got amazing scores.

Well, I am of the opinion that XC 2 looks and feels better than X, and thus should get a higher score.I wont say for certain simply because I havent played the game yet, but if it anything like the first XC, then I will like it more.

I am of the opinion that XCX was the most overrated game of the last generation. And I'm a big fan of XC on Wii. I still don't get how they managed to take everything that made XC so good and throw it away while exacerbating the very few negative things. The only good thing in XCX was Mira imho.

And I am of the mind that Xenoblade X is maybe the most criminally underrated games of all time, and expanded exponentially on what made the Xenoblade series so great with exploration and customization both in appearance and in game mechanics. It's easily the most experimental (for all its faults, which it does have as with all games) to a degree few if any devs will ever have the guts to attempt let alone pull off in a single $60 package of multiple hundred hour bliss.
