Forums - Nintendo - DigitalFoundry: Skyrim for Switch

And now that I bring this fact, then you will try and say that Fifa and skyrim are different games (no shit sherlock).

But based on the info we have right now we have Fifa Switch done bad in UK -> bad WW, and what Skyrim Switch have done (that is lower than PSVR, and in this case can't even use any excuse on userbase since PSVR userbase is smaller than Switch). So from what we have it is more likely to supposed based on data that Skyrim haven't done great number WW for Switch.

Using the UK of all countries as a litmus test for Skyrim Switch's performance worldwide is kinda pointless. The FIFA comparison is equally pointless as FIFA is a massively Eurocentric game and Skyrim is not. America will be the game's primary market, those are the numbers that really matter.

Third party games dont sell well on Nintendo systems unless they are third party exclusives (rabbits). It has been that way since the gamecube era.

Plenty of non-exclusive third party games crossed the million mark on Wii.

litmus test? Where were all of you hidding when we were discussing the Fifa sales in UK and others were certain that WW sales of Fifa for Switch would be much better and that UK was the worse Nintendo territory (it isn't, the numbers of Switch sales in UK will be greater than most markets)...

Is those one of the situations where we deny all possibilities at all times until we can't deny it and then we forget?

Azzanation: "PS5 wouldn't sold out at launch without scalpers."

This might sound weird, but I'd like to see a DF comparison between the Switch and PSVR versions of Skyrim. They're obviously very different beasts, but it would be neat to see how taxing VR is for a game like this.

Bet with Adamblaziken:

I bet that on launch the Nintendo Switch will have no built in in-game voice chat. He bets that it will. The winner gets six months of avatar control over the other user.

FIFA isn't relevant to this discussion. Totally different game, market, and genre.

Ok, and where you there saying UK sales of Fifa could be used to extrapolate WW or did you had other excuses for that case as well?

No, I never said that. FIFA is a massively Eurocentric game, Skyrim isn't. The market that will make or break Skyrim is North America. UK sales are not very helpful as far as indicating total sales.

So you were in the UK thread and recognized that the bad sales in UK were a bad omen that WW sales could have been low.

Not sure I even read that thread tbh. I might have, my memory is hazy.

At any rate, for Skyrim I think UK sales are borderline meaningless. North America is where the game will sink or swim.

ok then.

I have a hard time believing that there's anybody that wasn't surprised by the PSVR version outselling the Switch version. I'm not saying that this means the Switch version is selling poorly, or that this means the VR version will outsell the Switch version WW, but like...the Switch is the new Hot thing and VR has been called niche nonstop since it came out. If I had to guess I'd say that it's likely because the experience VR provides makes it a more attractive buy then portability does.

Edit: Essentially, I think "want to fight that Dragon on the bus?" Is less enticing than "want to fight that Dragon up close?".
