Why?

Playstation home consoles and Europe is like a wedding which lasts over thirty years. There is simply no room for another console to really form a treath.

Playstation will surelly outsell Switch globally in Europe.

Despite everything said about the Switch's success, the PS4 kept selling more than the Switch worldwide throughout the entire month.
Well done PS4

Because one console is successful another console can't be as well?

Besides, Vgchartz numbers aren't very accurate. It's only after countless revisions after official figures have been released that it becomes more or less accurate.

So the PS4 is now at 11.46m sold in 2017, this time last year the PS4 was at 7.4m sold (week ending 1st October - 2nd January 2016)

Peak year, it seems. Unless 2018 is better.

Both companies just released shipments numbers and not far they also gave salethrough estimatives... so the numbers on VGC after the new adjustments shall be quite accurate.

Im really surprised to see it up so much this year.

It was basically flat YOY in 2016 and typically when a console is flat YOY, the following year is a decline.

Good for Sony!

The thing with Playstation consoles is that they are not front loaded with exclusives.

It takes a while for them to receive the first batch of exclusives, but when they start it doesn't stop until the end of the gen.

Next year with God of War, Spiderman, etc the sales will be higher than this year.
